6 NEW TIME SCHEDULE FOR ADVENT The Council passed the motion this past meeting to move the Advent schedule at Zion. The proposed schedule is: 5:30 Advent Supper 6:30 Advent Service 7:30 Confirmation The old schedule was: 6:00 Advent Supper 6:30 Confirmation and Choir 7:30 Advent Service The change was made with the idea of allowing people to arrive at the church earlier, and for some, to return home earlier. Confirmation and Choir, presumably would end no later than the normal schedule. However, those not participating in Confirmation or Choir, would presumably be home an hour earlier.

The Iowa Lutheran School Tuition Organization (ILSTO) assists families who meet certain income guidelines, and your contribution can help the STO help others. This year 725 Lutheran students received $742,000 in tuition assistance to attend a Lutheran elementary or secondary school in Iowa. St. Paul School received checks for over $50,000 in tuition assistance which helped 62 students attend your school. Visit the STO website at iowalutheransto.org or call STO program manager Dewey Torkelson at for more information to see how your contribution can help. This year the total amount goal rises to over $822,000 so your help is very much needed. Is someone resistant to the life-affirming message as you have presented it? Perhaps it s the attitude they sense when they have been approached. I have found that when my attitude is more reflective of Christ, my message is much better received, and I can do my job of lifting up those who are weak. So I pray, Lord, make me a servant who is humble and meek that I might lift up those who are weak. Amen. Lynette Auch, president of Lutherans For Life. A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life BUILDING HEALTHY FAMILIES: A couple celebrating their 60 th wedding anniversary was asked how they had stayed together for so long. Their answer provides a word of wisdom for today s newly married couples: It s simple. We are from a time when if something is broken you don t throw it away. You fix it. Every marriage even the most strong experiences times of discord. It s normal to not be happy all of the time. Certainly work to fix your marriage when it breaks, but also remember to perform regular wellness checkups to assure that it keeps working well. LFS counselors who share your faith perspective can help with both of these. Lutheran Family Service of Iowa (800) or (515)
