2 From the pastor... The Christmas season is here! Who will you invite to worship with you over the next few weeks? Who has the Lord placed on your heart that you know needs to hear the Good News about Jesus Christ? Christmas has proven to be the most significant season of the year for helping connect people to Jesus. It is the season that our friends are most open to and feel the least threatened by our invitations for them to join us in church for the special events surrounding the birth of our Savior. Let me encourage you to make that phone call, send that text, do whatever you need to do over these next few weeks to let your friends and family know that you want them to experience Jesus and Christmas this year with us here at First Baptist Dyersburg! They will most likely not be willing to come on their own, so be prepared to arrange a time to meet them here at church or go by and pick them up yourself and bring them with you. And as you do, know that your invitation may very well be the very catalyst God uses to change the direction of their life for all eternity! Each Sunday morning in December we will be celebrating Advent, which is a wonderful time of expectant waiting as we look forward to celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. My messages over the next four weeks will be centered around the themes of hope, peace, joy, and love in that order. If you have friends that are looking for true hope, true peace, true joy, and true love in their own lives, then this is the season for you to bring them with you to the Sunday morning worship service you attend each week. I ll look forward to meeting them as well either before or after the service! In addition to our regular Sunday morning worship, there are two other special events that are perfect for you to attend with your guests: The Gift: Come Adore Sunday, December 9 at 6pm in the Sanctuary Led by Evan Gray and our Children s and Adult Choirs, this service is always one of the highlights of the Christmas season! The choirs have been working very hard and I know this will be a wonderful night of worship that you will not want to miss!! Join us as we celebrate the birth of our Savior during this special evening of worship. It will be a birthday celebration for Jesus you will not want to miss! If you have young children, put them in their pajamas, wrap a coat around them and come join the celebration we ll be done by 9pm. I look forward to worshiping with you on this very special night! I am looking forward to celebrating this Christmas season with you and hope you ll join me in praying for and inviting many of our friends throughout our community to join us for these special days of worship and celebration! 4 Service Need Join us Sunday, December 9 at 6pm in the Sanctuary for a Christmas night of worship with our adult and children's choirs. We will be installing cameras around our campus to enhance your worship experience. We will need extra sets of eyes while activities are on campus to observe the monitors. 5 White Christmas Sunday, December 9, 2018 Bring your gifts and Lottie Moon Christmas offering to the altar during the morning worship services. If your child is in the nursery and you wish for them to participate in the offering, please come get them after Life Group class. The nursery workers will not accompany the children to the sanctuary. They may return to the nursery after the offering has been given. Please wrap your White Christmas gift in white tissue paper and use your Lottie Moon envelope for your financial offering. Make sure you indicate which mission you are supporting by marking your package. We will have pizza. 100 percent of your gifts to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering goes to missionaries serving to advance the gospel around the world. $2 would provide a cup of coffee for workers in Mexico City who meet with business people to share the gospel. About $5,000 would provide a three-week trip for an entire family of missionaries to reach a hard-to-access people group in the mountains of Nepal. Every gift in between goes toward one grand purpose - getting the hope of Jesus to all nations.
