1 PHONE: (972) Mary Elizabeth Pirtle March 14, November 7, 2006 Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Pirtle, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother entered into the presence of the Lord on November 7, She was born March 14, 1918, in Telephone, Texas, to Henry Luther and Neva (Slagle) Morrison. On June 1, 1941, she married Wilson Pirtle in Telephone. Mrs. Pirtle graduated from East Texas State University and earned a master s degree from Texas Tech. She was a teacher for Sundown ISD for 35 years. She is survived by her daughters, Sandy Mittelstet of Plano, Texas, and Kathy Clark and her husband, Howard of Memphis, Tennessee; grandchildren, Amy Mittelstet; Mandy Stuber and husband, Chad; Jonathan Clark and wife, Kendra; and Kaitlyn Clark; great grandchild, Andrew Stuber; brother, John Morrison; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson, and granddaughter, Kristen Clark; brothers, Elmer, Ike and Walter Morrison; and sisters, Cleo Fortner and Omer Welch. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 11, 2006, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Friday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Presbyterian Village North and Vitas Hospice. Memorials Words just aren't enough to say about Mary Pirtle, she was my 4th grade teacher and I learned so much from her that year, not just academically but about life itself and what a wonderful presence we each leave on it. My deepest sympathies go out to the entire family. Mary and Wilson were

2 definately someone that we should all example our lives after. We shall all meet again in our wonderful Father's home and it shall be the most rejoicing time of our lives. No more pain and sorrow you will endure, the Lord has promised us, that's for sure. Parting is such sweet sorrow, but you will have endless tomorrows. What a life you have both lived. Setting an example of how we should give. You will have a life of eternity with friends and loved ones who have gone on before thee. Many memories of your family came to mind--the trips to Ruidoso with the Blaines and Neelys and our two families, the First Methodist Church activities that we shared, the very good experiences that Carol and Craig had a students in your Mother's class at Sundown Elementary, to just the warm friendship that we enjoyed with your Mother and Dad. 6 Dear Friends, Please accept my synpathy in the loss of your mom and our teacher. Your mom was a light to me and my brothers through all the years we can into contact with her. She accepted us as we were and loved us and encouraged us in so many ways. She and Mr. Pirtle were not only there for us in the classroom, they set examples for us in the little Methodist Church, and then kept in touch with us through so many years. Mary's class even sent Butch letters during his year of duty in Viet Nam. Butch still has those letters. I can even remember that Ted got to go to school with Butch and stay the afternoon a couple of times. Lucky boy - I never got to do that. Now, do you think that could happen in these days of TEKS tests? Your mom was just one of the best of the best. I never got to be in her actual classroom, but somehow I always knew she wanted me there. She had that kind of generous and loving nature. I know she will have many stars in her crown as she enjoys the eternity of heaven's glory.
