1 PHONE: (972) Lucy Mae Williams March 5, January 12, 2010 Lucy Mae Williams, age 92, went to be with the Lord Jesus on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center. Lucy was born March 5, 1917 in Tom Bean, Texas to James Ephraim Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Martin Franklin. She spent her childhood in Tom Bean, graduating from Tom Bean High School in After high school she attended Texas Wesleyan in Fort Worth. On October 5, 1935 she married Joe C. Williams, Sr. in Durant, Ok. They made their home in Tom Bean, where they raised their two sons and enjoyed their five grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of the First Methodist Church of Tom Bean where she played the piano for many years. Lucy loved the Lord and her family. She was always willing to help anyone and had many friends that she loved and considered her family. Lucy owned and operated the family gas station until she closed it in 1986 to take care of her husband. Lucy s Station was the cornerstone of Tom Bean social life. It was a favorite hangout on Friday and Saturday nights for local teenagers. Not only could you buy gas, but also snow cones, fireworks and good food. She was the eyes and ears of the community, people both near and far would come ask her questions about their families and she was always willing to give them plenty of information. Cooking for her family was one of her favorite things to do. Each of her family had a favorite dish that she would always make for them. Her great-grandchildren were known to say that their Mom s cooking was not as good as Grandma s. Lucy is survived by sons Joe C. Williams, Jr and wife Kathy of Sherman; Ralph Williams and wife Marion of Tom Bean; four grandchildren, Patricia Sharp of Bullard; Joe C. Williams III and wife Terria of Frisco; Kiley Fleming and husband Alan of Howe; Carol Ann Downing and husband Jason of Sherman; ten great-grandchildren, Dre Williams, Matthew Jones, Caden Sharp, Alexis Williams, Joe C. Williams IV, Karsyn Fleming, Will Fleming, Isabella Fleming, Emma Downing and Ethan Downing; very special cousins Pat Stephens and wife Joyce of Tom Bean; Tommy Stephens and Linda of Sherman; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, four sisters; husband Joe C. Williams, Sr. and granddaughter Janice Williams Glenn. The family will be at the home of Ralph and Marion Williams in Tom Bean. Visitation will be at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Tom Bean, Thursday, January 14 from 6 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services will be Friday, January 15, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Tom Bean. Interment will follow at Akers Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Rev. Jerry Colgrove, Mr. A. C. Quinn, and Rev. Houston Garner. Pallbearers will be.h. Eric Rodgers, David Ellis, Phillip Langford, Joe Stephens, Donald Stephens and Tommy Stapleton. Honorary pallbearers are Oscar Wetzel, H.C. Brooks and Don Williams. In

2 lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Tom Bean. Memorials To Ms. Lucy's family: You are in our thoughts and prayers. When we moved to Tom Bean in 1984 Ms. Lucy's gas station was the first thing we saw as we entered town. I can still see her out there pumping gas and pulling money out of her pocket to make change. We were all disappointed when she closed down, but I continued to see her at the post office and would always enjoy one of her hugs. I was amazed at her young age she had babysit her grandchild last night. The town of Tom Bean will not be the same without her bright smile and cheerful hello's. I will miss her!!! I meet Lucy when she work at her gas station she all ways had a smile on her face.then when she shopped at K C FOODS I really got to no her she was the sweetest lady I have ever meet.i would put her bags in her car'and there she went all you saw was her head right above the steering wheel,i went target shooting at her little gun range,she was like pay me for the first hour and stay as long as you like.she was the sweetest person I ever meet.the town should have been call LUCY's town because she touch every body's heart...my thought and prayer's to her family.she will be dearly missed.. She was a wonderful lady and she was always thinking about the needs of others and never failed to ask about the family. We are all better for having had the privilege to know her. She and my mother talked and visited often as they lived across the road from each other for several years. I remember seeing Ms. Lucy often times when we as a group were visiting the rifle range and never saw her sitting and relaxing. She was always busy doing something. To the family I can say you have lost a great part of your family but you will always have some of the greatest memories you will forever cherish. She seemed tireless and was always willing do do anything that needed to be done. I will never forget her driving that big car. She sat so low in the seat you couldn;t tell anyone was in the drivers seat. She will be missed by friends and especially family.
