1 PHONE: (972) Jonathan Andrew Mensch July 13, December 24, 2017 Jonathan Andrew Mensch of Plano, Texas passed away December 24, 2017, at the age of 29. He was born July 13, 1988, to Garry Doyle Mensch and Karen Elaine (Knight) Mensch in McKinney, Texas. Jonathan grew up in McKinney and Princeton, Texas where he attended schools. In 2007 through 2009, he served his country in the United States Army. Jonathan worked as an Arborist. He enjoyed rock climbing and spending time outdoors. Jonathan is survived by his parents, Karen and Garry Mensch of McKinney; brothers, Russell Rusty Mensch and wife Kirsten of Lucas, Texas and Stephen Mensch and wife, Jessica of Anna, Texas; niece and nephews, Declan, Sydney, Luke, and Demry; several aunts and uncles; and a host of other loving family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Lafayette Cemetery in Lafayette, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials Karen, I came back to the office yesterday after battling the flu, and heard the news. Unfortunately, I did not return in time to even make it to the services. I greatly apologize for not being there to support you. My heart truly aches for you and your family for Jonathan. All words seem so trite and inadequate, but I do want you to know that I share in your grief and will diligently pray for all of

2 you that, through our gracious Lord and Savior, abundant peace may be given. Psalm 34:18 assures us that "The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" and that, in Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." My uncle also lost his son. Time simply had to pass to dull the grief, but his memories were always kept close to him. Towards the end of his life, my uncle looked forward to meeting again, in God's city. "For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God...Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them." Tears fill my eyes as I type this, only imagining the pain your hearts must feel, again, I am so sorry. In my loss experience less than 2 years ago, the verses God revealed to me that I literally clung to some days are 1 Peter 5:8-11. I have a couple of memories of Jonathan, one when Garry, you, made me and the girls a meatloaf lunch and we came over after church and hung out and ate together. I don't remember a ton of details but I do remember that he was kind, helpful, polite and seemed gentle, he talked to me and my girls - especially Zoey I remember, and we had

3 a great time. Then I remember chatting with you and him at church a couple years ago, he was soft-spoken, yet he had a warm, friendly smile. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
