The procedure is as follows: The presider will distribute the Eucharist to the lead Eucharistic ministers. Once the rest of the Eucharistic ministers begin receiving (and during their receiving) please come to the front of the altar. A minister of the cup will meet you there to enable you to receive from a gluten free cup. We welcome the opportunity to offer a new procedure to those who need to receive in this way. PEOPLE FIRST LANGUAGE recognizes that individuals with disabilities are first and foremost people. It emphasizes each person s value, individuality, dignity and capabilities. This eliminates generalizations, assumptions and stereotypes by focusing on the person rather than the disability. The celebrations will be the weekend of June 27 & 28 at the regularly scheduled liturgies. There s still time for Adult & Teen Volunteers to register! The areas to be filled are: Crawfish Crafts & Missions Gator Games Bible Bayou Dockside Drive-In Pre-School Playhouse & Bayou Crew Leaders The Crocodile Dock Totally Catholic Leader manuals are complete with activity plans, supply list and samples. Our goal is to reach 100 children with God s love at Crocodile Dock. Right now we have enough volunteers to reach 50 kids. How can YOU help make this VBS totally awesome? Call Christa for more information. CHILDREN S LITURGY OF THE WORD This summer we will offer the Children s Liturgy of the Word twice a month at the 9:00am and the 4:00pm liturgies. Team members are scheduled to lead once a month. Children ages 4 yrs. to 8 yrs. are invited to gather in the Daily Mass Chapel during the liturgy to listen to and participate in the Liturgy of the Word in a way that is relevant to their young lives. They return to their family before the celebration of the Eucharist. No registration is necessary. We welcome new team members! Call Christa for more information. Adult Faith Formation ADULT FAITH FORMATION: BOOK DISCUSSION Please join a summer book discussion group. The book selection is: Just as You Are. Being in love with the Divine is God s gift that is always available to anyone who is looking for it. In Just as You Are, Fr. Paul Coutinho, SJ helps us move forward in the confidence that God already loves us and simply asks that we embrace this amazing love and live in it on a daily basis. The Book Group will meet on three Wednesday evenings (2 weeks apart each gathering): JULY 8 (Part I); JULY 22 (Part II) & AU- GUST 5 (Part III). We ll gather in St. Michael Hall from 6:30-8:00 pm each evening. From the introduction we read: We have all had a taste of Divine love and our spirits hunger for more. But then other voices muffle the unconditional gift of Divine love---voices that speak of fear, guilt, anxiety, and unworthiness. Falling in love with God begins with an infatuation that penetrates those negative voices. The Divine seducer never gives up but continues to draw us in many different ways to a deeper union and communion with the Ultimate. So if you really have the will to experience life as one who is in love with the Divine, it will happen, If you want it, you ll find it. In fact, love will find you. Are you willing? Are you ready? Are you interested in meeting other young adults in the area? Would you like to get together in a friendly low-key environment? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then join us at our next Theology on Tap! In coordination with other young adults on the Peninsula, we have started a Theology on Tap group. Our summer program will meet on the following days: June 9, July 14, and August 11 from 7:30-9pm. We will be meeting at Marker 20, a local restaurant in downtown Hampton (check out their website for directions and to see what is on tap). There will be time for socializing and meeting new people. Each meeting will also have a guest speaker, who will have a presentation and then answer any questions you might have. This is a great opportunity to meet others in this area and to grow in your faith. The operational hours for the ministry are from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday thru Friday. Training is provided. If you feel called to assist pregnant women in need of support during their pregnancy or to serve the needs of mothers and young children up to the age of 18 month, please consider this valuable ministry. FUNDING FOR OUTREACH MINISTRY Our Lady of Mount Carmel s Outreach Ministry has received a check in the amount of $830 from the Catholic Diocese of Richmond s Fuel and Hunger Fund. This second round of funding was based on the application we submitted in October 2008 and was made possible through additional donations to the 2008 Annual Bishop s Appeal and other special contributions. Nursery Ours is a Co-Op Nursery, currently at the 9:00am and 4:00pm Masses, staffed by parents who utilize the nursery and volunteer one Sunday per month. Per Diocesan requirements, we are required to have at least 2 caregivers present in the nursery at all times. In addition the volunteers must complete the 3 hour VIRTUS training (go to to register). VIRTUS UPCOMING VIRTUS TRAINING The Diocese mandates that all those who minister with children or youth must take this training prior to volunteering. All parents using the Cooperative Nursery at OLMC must be trained as well. PHARMACY OUTREACH PROGRAM Need assistance with your prescriptions? If you don t have prescription insurance and have a limited income you may qualify for our pharmacy program. Healing Ministry GRIEVING? Still hurting from the loss of a loved one? Don't suffer in silence.
