Box Charlotte, NC Telephone Fax newsletter@arpres.org Let the Children Come I believe that You made all that I can see so everything I want is You alive in me. Though I am young You said let the children come. So I will sing I m not too small to know You Jesus as my Lord. Oh, I will sing, I will sing for You. Only for You. Though I am young You said let the children come. The week of July 19 24, we welcomed the young ones to ARPC for Vacation Bible School. They came at the invitation of Jesus as His special guests. Yes they were young some very young! They were red, yellow, black and white. Some were thin and some were chubby. Some came from rich homes others from very poor homes. But no matter. Jesus loves all the children of the world. This is what we have been singing as eternal truth for many, many years. The little ones came for vacation bible school and we welcomed each and every one of them and God smiled. Grace and Peace, Pastor Ron Some people brought their children to Jesus, so that He could place His hands on them and pray for them. His disciples told the people to stop bothering Him. But Jesus said, Let the children come to me and do not stop them! Matthew 19:13 Dinner and a Show Covered Dish Dinner & Ice Cream Social Featuring comedian Kenn Kington Invite your friends to join us! Dinner will begin at 5:00pm followed by the show at 6:00 pm. Children will enjoy a movie during Kenn s show. A love offering will be collected.

6 FOCUS Page 6 from Pastor Aaron Several people have asked if I am tired after the trip to Montreat with the Impact Youth. The answer that comes to mind is the story of Jesus and the woman at the well in John 3 (which coincidentally we studied at Montreat). After Jesus interaction with the woman His disciples return and ask Him if He is hungry. Jesus, who had not eaten all day and must have been famished, replied that he had food that they knew nothing about. This is kind of how I feel. Yes, I am truly exhausted from a glorious and uplifting week, but I am also energized at seeing these teens grow in their faith. My prayer for them while at Montreat and indeed for the next year is for their spiritual growth. Their physical, emotional, psychological growth is all mostly a given, but their spiritual growth is dependent on a couple of factors. 1) Their own spiritual discipline including prayer, devotional time, service opportunities, and fellowship and worship opportunities. We talked about these things and the importance of our personal relationship with Jesus. These spiritual disciplines are both taught and modeled by the members of ARPC both in their homes and in and around the life of our church. Let us all join with these young people in pursuing the holiness of God in our own spiritual lives, and thus pass onto these teens the way of Jesus as He teaches us in the scriptures. 2) Our support and the work of the Spirit in their lives. Pray for your young people. Pray for their studies. Pray for their relationships. Pray for their families. Pray for their futures. And in addition to prayer, SPEAK to these young people. Express to them the fact of how much you love them (because I know you do). Tell them you re praying for them. Take them to breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Encourage their Sunday School teachers, Paul Williams, Marty Margeson, Troy Disser, Natalie Sielaff, and Harry Abercrombie. Encourage their parents. You older parents who have been there, give these younger parents some hope. Remember that the next generation truly is the now generation. In this we will not only build into our young people and young families, watching their spiritual lives flourish, but we will also flourish ourselves functioning as the encouraging body to which Christ calls us. Truly this is food that the world knows nothing about- doing the will of the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. Included are some words from our teens regarding their experiences at Montreat. Thank you ARPC for your continued support of the ARPC Impact Youth Ministry. Dear ARPC, I would like to thank my church for supporting and funding me to go on this trip. It was an amazing experience and it brought me closer to God. The Montreat Youth Conference was an experience like no other. The activities and events that we attended were all very stimulating & fun; for example every morning at the service we would dance to the music and sing Praise songs. Also we were all put into smaller groups to discuss scripture & life in general. In our free time we were able to go practically anywhere on campus; we could do activities such as rock hopping, hiking, paddle -boating, or just get some ice cream at the Huck. Being in such a nature-focused setting really helped me develop a relationship with God and observe nature s beauty. In conclusion, Montreat is an experience that I will never forget and I thank the church for allowing me to go to such an amazing place. Alex Disser Thank you ARPC for supporting us. We couldn t do it without your support. I was lucky enough to have met some amazing people who I will keep in touch with. Montreat Youth Conference really helped me grow closer to God. The small groups played an instrumental role, I got to really get to know teenagers from all over. We grew together as small group 27, and separately also. Being able to experience Montreat was amazing. I can t wait to go back. Thanks again! #27forlife Payton Hall Thank you ARPC family for sending us on this amazing trip. In little over a week I have built stronger friendships and have stepped further out of my comfort zone than ever before. Thank you again for allowing me to experience this amazing place and continue to build my faith in God and Jesus. Matt Silipigni Thank you for helping us go on this great youth trip to Montreat. I learned a lot and got to experience different life stories of other campers. I really enjoyed this trip and I think it helped me and my friends grow strong relationships with others and also God.
