1 JULY 1, 2018 LOOKING FOR A NEIGHBOR TO BLESS?: The Threadz Ministry is back in a new format and looking to bless a number of kids from Clearview school and their siblings with new school uniforms and school supplies at a Back to School event on Saturday, July 28 at GCC. See the insert for more information and visit our Narthex table TODAY to find out how you can be a blessing to these families. JULY 4 OFFICE CLOSURE: The Church Office will be closed on Wednesday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. There will also be no food pantry on that day. NEW SUNDAY AM BIBLE STUDY: Join us Sunday mornings at 8:00 and 9:00 am (same material repeated) starting Sunday, July 8 in the Community Room for an in-depth study of the Sermon on the Mount. Learn what was so amazing about what Jesus taught his followers so many years ago and why these words continue to amaze us today! No homework or advance preparation needed and just come whenever you can make it. SUMMER OPEN GYM: We will have open gym on Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:30am from July 11 August 29. There will be a bouncy house, scooters, balls and more. Parents must stay the entire time. This is for infants through fifth graders. LAKE COUNTY WORSHIP NIGHT: Sunday, July 15, from 7-9pm, join us for a night of hymns and prayer. Featuring local worship leaders Aaron Buehrer, Pedro Carrera, Scharema Hannibal, Stephen Hinkle, and Luke Copeland.

LETS EAT TOGETHER : Every year, from Memorial Day through Labor Day the congregations of the GO TOGETHER churches here in Gurnee host BBQ's, picnics and parties in their neighborhoods.

2 LETS EAT TOGETHER : Every year, from Memorial Day through Labor Day the congregations of the GO TOGETHER churches here in Gurnee host BBQ's, picnics and parties in their neighborhoods. The purpose is to create environments of hospitality so that we can be a blessing to our neighbors. In 2018 the goal is 100 events in Gurnee neighborhoods and the surrounding communities. So whether it is 2 or 200, share a meal with a neighbor, co-worker, or other future friend this summer. Register your event at: tinyurl.com/gotogethereat (Go- Together.org/get-involved/eat-together). GURNEE DAYS: On August 9-12, GO Together! Churches will be partnering with the Village of Gurnee by providing volunteers for the annual Gurnee Days event. Our goals is to meet 40 of their volunteer needs! Volunteers are needed to help with the parade, the information booth and other exhibition booths. If you ve built relationship with your neighbor(s) through an Eat Together event, consider inviting your neighbors to Serve Together. Please help us love our community! 3 DAVID ULRICH - DIRECTOR OF CHURCH CONNECTIONS: Dave, his wife Lynn and children Nicole and Bradley have been attending GCC for about 8 years. An Illinois native, Dave studied at the University of South Florida. His favorite pastimes include hanging with his family, volleyball, bike riding, reading and yard work. Dave loves the theologically solid teaching at GCC. He makes use of his spiritual gifts of teaching by leading a men s group and is excited at the opportunity to lead the important area of Church Connections. He hopes to help match people to their God-given talents in order to Glorify God and reach a lost world. Please join us in congratulating Dave and a big thank you to Charlie Quint for all her hard work as the previous director. GARY MILLER - ELDER: Gary attended GCC as a child until aged 19 when he joined the army. After he married Jan they both started attending around They have 4 children and 5 grandchildren! Gary recently retired from the Gurnee Fire Dept. He likes to use his hands and has helped on many building projects at GCC including building the Tru-kids check-in desk. He says that he feels fulfilled when he uses the talents God gave him to help others. Asked to describe how he sees the role of an Elder, Gary replied Our elders are here to connect to the people of our church and see that we are fulfilling what God wants our church to be, which is His hands and feet in our community. Elders can help guide the direction of our church family and help tune our functions to be the best

IN A NEW WAY We still want to provide uniforms, but also add school supplies, fun events and most importantly build relationships with the families. MULTIPLE EVENTS/YEAR: * Back-to-school event-see over * Christmas Event * Spring-Break Event MULTIPLE GCC ROLES: FAMILY PARTNERS any group of 2 or more GCC people (could be a couple, family, life group or other group) who will commit to developing an on-going relationship with a Clearview family with the aim to bless the families by praying for them, listening to them, eating with them (at our Threadz events), shopping with them and sharing the love of Christ with them. Family Partners will receive training in their role from Love Inc. on July 9 at GCC. Family Partners are NOT expected to provide the finances to support their role. FINANCIAL SUPPORTERS our Family Partners will not be expected to provide financially for the cost of uniforms and school supplies. Instead we are asking the GCC congregation to prayerfully consider providing a financial gift of any amount towards these costs. The estimated cost per child will be $125 (for 2prs pants, 3 shirts, backpack and school supplies) but any amount that you can give will be most appreciated.
