3 LEMONADE GATHERING This summer, on the second Sunday of each month, the Membership Ministry invites members and visitors to stop by our lemonade stand in the Welcome Center following the 11:00 a.m. worship service. Please join us on July 12 and August 9 and enjoy a time to catch up. Dominican Republic VBS Supplies Needed With the Youth group's upcoming trip to the Dominican Republic, we will be putting on a Vacation Bible School for the local children. They are expecting around 200 children and this is a task that we are ready to take on but we could use some help with supplies. There is a basket under the table by the elevator to place any donated supplies. Items needed are: 800 clothespins (solid wood with no spring), markers of various colors and sizes, glue sticks, construction paper, and tulle of red and yellow to represent fire. Thank you in advance for your donations. The North Carolina Boys Choir and Chamber Choir will be in concert here at FPC on Thursday evening, June 18th at 7pm. These ensembles are made up of auditioned singers, aged 9-14 and select adult and alumni singers, from many different schools in North Carolina. We are pleased to serve as their hosts as they kick off their 2015 tour. Save the Date for our annual homemade Ice Cream and Hot Dog Social! Sunday, July 12th at 5:00 p.m. Fellowship Hall No Charge Dear Congregation: Thank you so much for supporting our youth program spiritually, financially, and with such a great attitude towards our goals. With our upcoming trip to the Dominican Republic, our budget has had to be increased due to the cost of our airline tickets. Because we had to go through group sales when we purchased our airline tickets, the cost was increased by $300 per person. We have currently met our goal of $8500, however, because of the ticket prices, more fundraising is necessary. We are offering some more fundraising opportunities to help offset the additional cost: Sunday, June 14th: after both services, we will be selling Bojangles Coupon Books for $5.00. These books have more than $60 dollars in savings. Saturday, June 20th: Car Wash at the church for donations of any amount: 9am-12pm Sunday, June 28th: During the 11:00 service we will have the commissioning of our Mission Team. After the service, our team will be collecting any donations towards the trip. Sunday, June 28th: We will be selling our coupon books at the Walmart off Highway 33 from 1pm- 6pm. Your continued support of this Youth program is appreciated by each and every member. Thank you for helping us continue our faith journey. Brian Dilday Youth Director
4 YOUTH NEWS: Summer Vacation! The most wonderful time of the year! I hope that everyone is enjoying a little bit of down time from the hustle and bustle of the school year. I know that my family enjoys this time to be able to relax and spend some quality time together. There are definitely some exciting events coming up in the life of our youth and I am looking forward to all of the opportunities that we will have to spend together this summer. With VBS this week, I am very pleased to hear how well the Youth group is being represented once again in coming out in large numbers to serve the children of our congregation and community. Upcoming Events: We will continue Ultimate Frisbee throughout the summer. June 17th will be our first date to play. We will meet at 7pm at the intramural fields behind the Belk building off of Charles Boulevard. June 20th--Car Wash at the church from 9am-12pm June 28th--Commissioning of the Mission Team and collection of donations from church members June 28th--selling Bojangles coupon books outside of Walmart from 1pm-6pm Attention Dominican Republic Mission Team-- June 17th--8:30pm: we will have a Vacation Bible School curriculum planning night Wednesday, July 1st: we will have a packing night for supplies that we are taking with us Friday, July 3rd--meet at the church at 10:00pm so we can leave at 2:30 in the morning. We will return on the 12th. Montreat--Female advisor needed!!!! If any female is willing to go for a fun and uplifting week with a great group of people, please let me know ASAP. Payments for Montreat are due by Wednesday, July 15th. I hope that everyone is enjoying the beginning of summer and I look forward to seeing you at any of the upcoming events. We have a lot planned for the summer with more opportunities to get involved coming soon. Please try to come out for as many as you can so that we can continue to grow in our faith together even during these summer months. Brian Dilday, Youth Director , fpcyouthgreenville@gmail.com

6 Things To Donate To The Homeless Please help the Ulster Project collect items for their mission project this summer. Some items are listed below that will be donated to the homeless in our community. Tooth Paste Dental Floss Tooth Brush Band-Aids Neosporin Cortisone Cream Cotton Swabs Listerine Deodorant Razors Nail Clippers Baby Wipes Thick Socks Batteries Feminine hygiene products Anti-diarrhea tablets Dear Brothers and Sisters, This week has been Vacation Bible School week at First Presbyterian Church. Our young people have spent the week finding ways to help others. The fourth and fifth graders have gone off site to work at the Food Bank, explore the Community Garden, visit the Humane Society s Animal Shelter, and play bingo with residents of Winterville Manor. Our preschoolers through third graders have made crafts for those in the nursing home, they have prepared sandwiches for the homeless shelter, collected foodstuff for the Community Food Bank, made birdfeeders for our winged friends, and baked dog biscuits for the Humane Society. Our young people are learning that care for one another and for all of God s creatures is a part of our commitment to follow Christ. Years ago, I learned that a week of Vacation Bible School was equal to a year s Christian education for most children. Christian education is one of the ways that the church keep its baptismal promises that we will help our young people grow in their faith and commitment to Christ. This week, adults, youth, and children have worked together to share the journey of faith and to grow in their faith. Bill Neely
