As is our tradition, we will read the scriptures in many languages on Pentecost Sunday, May 15. At the 8:30 a.m. service you will read a part of the Acts text and the Lord s Prayer. At the 10:00 a.m. service it will just be the Lord s Prayer as we will have the children s musical at this service. We would also love to have a sign language interpreter for at least those items if not the entire service. The Jubilation Singers and the Caroler Choir present their spring musical Oh Jonah! next Sunday at the 10:00 a.m. service. It s more than a story about the prophet Jonah and a big fish. Sunday, May 15, 4:00 p.m. The Colorado Chorale presents Water & Spirit, with music summoning you to hear water depicted through sound. Featuring a collaboration of two local ensembles, 303Choir (from the Colorado Children s Chorale) and Spirit of Grace (Gospel Group), the concert will offer various images of water with spirited and engaging selections. While a flight cancellation prohibited him and his wife, Karen, from joining us in April, there is still an opportunity for the congregation to get acquainted with Pastor Sandberg and the gifts that the Call Committee and Congregation Council believe that he brings to Bethany. They represent the love, warmth and grace of Christ that we first encounter at Baptism and that stays with us through our whole life. Our prayer is that, as the Graduates wrap themselves in these blankets, they are reminded of God s presence and the love from their home church. Our youth have a variety of post high school plans. Those plans include continuing education, military service and joining the work force. Bethany welcomes all baptized Christians who have celebrated their first communion to join in receiving the body and blood of Christ in Holy Communion. An usher will direct you when to come forward for the distribution. You will receive the wafer in your hand which you may then dip in the wine. A communion station with alcohol free wine and gluten free wafers is available at every communion service at the center aisle. You may return by the opposite aisle of your section. Those who would like to come forward but do not wish to commune may ask the server for a blessing. The Preface reminds us that in Christ, we are joined to the Communion of Saints through all time and space.
