An usher will direct you forward for communion. There are several stations across the front of the seating sections. Groups are welcome to visit a communion station together. You will receive a piece of bread in your hand, please dip the bread into the cup of wine. Those who are not receiving communion are invited to receive a blessing. 9 BETHANY SUNDAY NIGHTS Bethany Sunday Nights will begin on September 23 and continue each Sunday night until November 18. On September 23, October 28, and November 18, we will gather from 4:00-6:00 p.m. for Rejoicing Spirits, which includes a meal and accessible/participatory worship with communion. We will gather on the Sundays in between from 5:00-7:00 p.m. for a meal, an informal worship including communion, and small group time. All are invited for the full nine-week experience, or for any part of it. We explore 3 themes: Named and Claimed, Fed, and Sent. Please see the complete schedule below. We invite Bethany ministry groups to sponsor a simple dinner for any of the gatherings. Your group will have the opportunity to share your ministry with the people gathered. Meals (except for Rejoicing Spirits) will be offered for freewill donations. Rejoicing Spirits is a no-shush worship service for all people, including those with developmental and cognitive disabilities. Worship takes place on the 4th Sunday of the month, starting today from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Planning meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at noon at Bethany. Oberammergau: Pastor Gary is contemplating a Bethany trip to Europe in the summer of 2020 which will include the Passion Play at Oberammergau. If you have interest in learning about this possibility, you are invited to attend an information session in room 209 on either today at 9:30 a.m. or tomorrow, Monday, September 24 at 6:30 p.m. We will determine if the trip will be offered depending on interest. Acolyte training for any child/youth who would like to learn how to acolyte will be held today immediately following the second service in the sanctuary. THIS WEEK Living Faith Adult Faith Formation Class: Pastor Gary and Intern Rachel invite you into a year-long exploration of discipleship. Expand your ideas of what simple acts of discipleship mean, put into action a way to expand your participation in discipleship, and share with others how you are growing. Gatherings will be held on Wednesday nights from 6:00-6:55 p.m. beginning September 26 and running through May 1. Come for the entire series, or choose which marks of discipleship you want to explore. Advance registration for the fall gatherings is requested. Blessing of the Animals: As the Commemoration of St. Francis happens in early October, you are invited to bring a pet for brief liturgy and blessing on Sunday, October 7 at 12:00 p.m. We will gather in the courtyard. Pets of all sizes are welcomed. Depression and the Elderly: The signs and symptoms of depression can be different as people age. On Sunday, October 7, Patti Schramm, MSW, LCSW, from Centus Counseling will be offering a presentation, Depression and the Elderly in room 208 from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Contact Janet Mortinsen for more information. Our Annual Candle Lighting for Mental Health will take place on October 7. During both worship services, there will be candles at the altar for the congregation to light during communion in honor of themselves or someone in their lives who is afflicted with a mental illness. GET INVOLVED The Guardian Angel Program supports minors in immigration court in our state. We will hold a training for anyone who would like to be a part of this ministry or to learn more about accompanying minor immigrants in our system on Saturday, October 20 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon.
