Congregational Meeting: The semi-annual meeting of Bethany Lutheran Church will be held on Sunday, May 6 at 11:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary. All voting members of Bethany are encouraged to attend. Copies of the proposed budget are available in the Chapel between services both today and on Sunday May 6. Members of the Finance Team will be available between services in the Chapel this Sunday and next Sunday to discuss budget issues prior to the May 6 meeting. Vacation Bible School: It s that time again to plan for Vacation Bible School, which will be held June (9:00-11:30 a.m. for Preschool & Kindergarten; 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon for grades 1-5). Diaper Drive: We are collecting diapers for Inner City Health Center, a medical, behavioral, and dental health clinic in Denver that follows Christian principles while serving a diverse population of uninsured, under-insured, and insured individuals. 10 Metro Caring, with whom Bethany partners, is a finalist for the Fourth Annual Gerry Rauenhorst Building Community Award from the Opus Foundation. The winner will be selected through public voting and will receive a $65,000 grant. Please help Metro Caring by voting for them at giving. Winning the $65,000 grant would have a tremendous impact on their mission to build equity by nourishing neighbors, providing tools to thrive, and fostering community a mission Bethany proudly supports. LOOKING AHEAD Women and Justice: One in Christ Draft Social Statement. A hearing will be held at Bethany on May 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Global Mission Children s Clothes Drive: Bethany s Global Mission Team is collecting gently used infant and youth clothing, especially shoes, to be delivered to our partners in Nicaragua. We will be collecting on May 20 and 27 in the lobby of the Great Hall. Please make your clothing contribution summer clothes only. The clothes will be delivered to Nicaragua in early June. Theater & Theology: The last play of the season is "Human Error." After an unfortunate mix-up by their blundering fertility doctor, Heather becomes pregnant with the wrong family s embryo. Now the two couples face sharing an uproarious nine-month odyssey of culture shock, clashing values, changing attitudes, and unlikely but heartfelt friendships. There will not be one scheduled night for T&T; you will be able to purchase your own tickets throughout the run of the show: May 18-June 24. See Sarah at the Welcome Center for a code to get special pricing and instructions for ordering. There will not be Talk-Back sessions at any of the performances. Carnival Celebration: We will kick-off summer with our annual Carnival Celebration on May 20 all morning in the Courtyard. We will have games and bouncy houses as well as carnival food: hot dogs, 11

GET INVOLVED Help Wanted- Saturday Building Opener: We are in need of someone to help open the building most Saturday mornings. Some mornings will start as early as 7:00 a.m., depending on building use. After completing opening duties, the opener would run the Hospitality Desk at the south entrance until as late as 2:00 p.m., and assist in building closing duties. This is a paid position. 12 Celebration of Holy Baptism L: We gather at these living waters. Throughout history, God s saving action toward God s people has taken place through water. Let us pray: Most Holy God, you created the seas, rivers, and lakes; you saved Noah and his family from the floods; you led the Israelites through the Red Sea and quenched their thirst with water flowing from a rock. Through the waters of the Jordan River, you proclaimed Jesus your own beloved son and so through these waters of baptism, you proclaim that we, too, are your own beloved children, now and forever. Amen. L: Parents, do you wish Miles to be baptized into the promises of God? R: I do. L: People of God, do you promise to support Miles as he continues his journey of faith? C: We do. We make promises and assume responsibilities at baptism. God promises us unconditional love and life forever, and we know that our journey of faith encompasses certain promises so that our lives reflect this love. Parents, do you promise to: live with him among God s faithful people, bring him to the Lord s table, teach him the Lord s Prayer, the Creed, and the Ten Commandments, place the holy scriptures in his hands to nurture his faith and prayer life, so that he may know and trust God, encourage him to proclaim Christ in his life, care for others, the creation that God made, and work for justice and peace? R: I do. L: Parents, sponsors and people of God, do you promise to support and pray for Miles in his new life in Christ? C: We do.
