Fourth Sunday After Pentecost July 2, 2017 The welcome of baptism is for all God s children. This baptismal gift sets us free from the power of sin and death. In today s gospel, Christ promises that the disciple who gives a cup of cold water to the little ones serves Christ himself. From worship we are sent on our baptismal mission: to serve the little ones of this world and to be a sign of God s merciful welcome. Prayer of the Day O God, you direct our lives by your grace, and your words of justice and mercy reshape the world. 6 ...our reach The Great Thanksgiving is when we lift our hearts in thanksgiving to a good and generous God. All are welcome to commune at St. John s. If your child does not yet commune, you are welcome to bring them forward to receive a blessing from Pastor Mark. Communion will be served from the kneelers at the front of the sanctuary. Ushers will direct you forward for distribution. You will receive the host to eat and then wine (red) or juice (white) from an individual communion cup. Gluten-free wafers are available. Please indicate your need to the server. Please inform the ushers if you need special assistance, and communion will be brought to you. The Great Thanksgiving The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise.
