3 ACTIVITIES AHEAD IN OUR PARISH URBAN MISSION CRITICAL NEEDS During the month of July, the Evangelization Team is collecting lunch items that school children can prepare themselves. All kinds of vendor coupons are being accepted also. There are special boxes at the doors of the church for your donations. Thank you in advance for your generosity. VACATION BIBLE CAMP starts Monday July 9th through Friday July 13th, 9AM-12 noon at Holy Family for grades K-5. Cost is $25.00 per child. You can register at the Rectory during business hours or call Sr. Angelica at Come join us for this week of Faith Filled Fun. IMPACT HIGH SCHOOL GROUP will meet Tuesday, July 10th, 5:30PM-7:00PM in the Greystone Building. Pizza and drinks are provided so please let Sarah know at or if you are planning on attending. PRAYING THE ROSARY Legion of Mary will pray the Rosary, Saturday, July 14th, beginning at 4:45PM. Everyone is invited to this prayer gathering before the 5:15PM Mass. PENNIES FROM HEAVEN collection for our Seminarians will be the weekend of July 14th and 15th. Thank you for your continuous support. OUR PARISH SCHOOL NEWS Applications are now being accepted for the St. John Bosco Pre-School and Junior Kindergarten. We offer programs for 3,4 and 5 year olds in 2,3 5 full day/ half day programs. Paperwork can be found on the IHC Website ( Programs fill quickly so please contact the office at if you are interested in enrolling your child in next year s programs. Kindly contact the school if you would like to arrange a meeting and tour. 3 year olds must turn 3 prior to October 31and be potty trained. 4 year olds must turn 4 prior to December 1st and be potty trained (4yr old pre-k programs along with our Junior K-4). Our 5yr old, (Junior K-5 program): These are children who are eligible to attend Kindergarten but are being given the Gift of Time. Depending on enrollment, children who have December birthdays may be considered. ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE OUR PARISH Please join the Knights of Columbus from around the Diocese for the 25 th annual bus trip to St. Anne s (Mother of Mary) shrine, Isle of La Motte, Vermont on July 21 st and July 22 nd. We depart IHC Intermediate (St. Pat s), Watertown at 9AM Saturday and return Sunday around 9PM. We will be traveling north on Route 11 and can pick up along the way. The pilgrimage is sponsored by the Adams Knights of Columbus, but is open to anyone interested in joining us. Mass will be celebrated on Sunday at 12:15PM at the Shrine with our Bishop, Terry LaValley, as the Celebrant. The cost is $ per person which includes the bus, all meals and the overnight lodging in the new cabins at the Shrine. Please contact Bill Ose at for more information. For more information or for a brochure, contact: S.S.A.S Travel LLC or Mike & Cathy Deline at (315) SUNDAY JULY 1: THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Readings: Wis 1:13-15; 2:23-24/2 Cor 8:7, 9, 13-15/Mk 5:21-43 or 5:21-24, 35b-43 "Do not be afraid. just have faith." In today's culture that sounds so naive, and it often requires a desperate situation for us to finally surrender to depending on faith. Jairus' daughter was at the point of death. As a synagogue official he was likely a wealthy man and probably tried many doctors and the best remedies that money and influence could buy. Similarly, the woman with the hemorrhage had suffered for twelve years and spent everything she had. Yet it is faith that brings life. Jesus heals the woman and restored her to the community. With a hemorrhage she would have been ritually unclean and separated. Jesus calls her "Daughter". Similarly, Jesus restored the little girl to life and family and community. Is there something that needs healing in your life, something that separates you from the love of Christ or the community of faith? Do not be afraid. have faith. and reach out and touch the tassel on his cloak and ask him for healing.

4 Note From the Pope, Pope Francis continued his catechesis on the Ten Commandments, explaining that these words are not meant as strict orders, but an invitation to shape our lives in a loving relationship with the Father. He asks that through our words and actions, may we show that obedience to the law of Christ is no mere legalism, but a response of filial love for God and confident trust in his saving plan for our world. SUMMARY OF PAPAL HOMILY Dear brothers and sisters, In our catechesis on the Commandments, we have seen that Jesus, God s incarnate Word, came not to abolish but to fulfill the Law. God s commandments are part of his ongoing conventional dialogue with his people; indeed, in Hebrew, the Ten Commandments are called God s ten words. As words, they are not so much orders to be obeyed but an invitation to shape our lives in a loving relationship with the Father, through the Son and in the Holy Spirit. God is not, as the Tempter would have us believe, a despot demanding blind obedience, but a Father concerned for the welfare of his children. Thanks to the gift of the Spirit, we are able freely to accept and obey God s law as the path to authentic human fulfillment. In our lives as Christians, we are called to pass from the letter of the Law to the freedom of the Spirit. In all our words and actions, may we show that obedience to the law of Christ is no mere legalism, but a response of filial love for God and confident trust in his saving plan for our world. Note From the Pastor, It s Our Church, It s Our Future is the theme for the Diocesan Wide Capital Campaign. It is important that everyone participate, because it is our future and our church, because 75% of the money raised stays here in our parish and only 25% goes to the Diocese. It is really our campaign more than the Diocese s. Early responses to the campaign have been very positive here at Holy Family. As of Commitment Weekend we had more than $220,000 pledged from 66 households. If you did not commit last weekend, I hope you are ready to commit this weekend. 6 ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP Did you know that around the globe there are five massive patches of marine plastic debris? One of these masses between California and Hawaii is the size of the state of Texas! Sea creatures eat or get ensnared in plastic debris. Plastics consumed by marine organisms, as well as the toxins they absorb from the water, accumulate up the food chain making seafood potentially dangerous for humans as well. Consider purchasing reusable containers for food storage rather than disposable ones.
