David Kim: From Prodigy to Professional Sunday, October 8, 6 p.m. Come to hear the concert master of the Philadelphia Orchestra play and give his testimony. Please consider this an evangelistic opportunity to invite friends, family and neighbors. Concert flyers and concert series postcards are in the narthex. Proclamation Missions Conference October Missions in Our Own Backyard Fellowship Groups will be meeting with missionaries on Friday night! Please see the Missions Conference brochure to see where each missionary will be speaking and contact the host to let them know you d like to join them. During Sunday school on October 15th at 9:30 am we will hear from the missionaries. At the 11:00 am worship service, Nick Setterington, International Director at University Reformed Church (Lansing, MI), will share with us about their ministry to over 8,000 international students and scholars from 131 countries in their own backyard. The missions committee will then host a church fellowship lunch with our missionaries after the morning worship service. Sign-up in the narthex if you d like to attend. Plan to come back for the evening worship service at 6:00 pm to hear from missionaries Gene Bowman and Bill Harding. The Eagles New Ministry for Older Adults We are very excited to announce the beginning of new Proclamation ministry we are calling The Eagles. We warmly invite you to attend the first meeting on Friday, October 20 at 10:00 am in Fellowship Hall. Pastor Ben Falconer will give a talk and Fran McGowen a testimony. This will be an opportunity for Proclamation s older men and women and friends to come together once a month for a short biblical message, discussion and informal time of fellowship. 8 MUMs Meeting Thursday, October 5 MUMs {Moms Uplifting Moms} is a cross-generational fellowship group that meets the first Thursday of each month from 9-11 am to encourage and strengthen one another in godly parenting and discipleship using book study and guided conversation. MUMs meetings are held at the home of Jennifer Superdock {800 Vauclain Rd, Bryn Mawr} and childcare is provided. Moms of young ones and seasoned moms alike are encouraged to attend! Papaya Club Wednesday, Oct. 4, 10:00 11:30 a.m. The Japanese congregation has held this program a ministry to Moms and young children (infant to pre-k) for several years. Now, they are extending the invitation to all Moms. It is held once or twice a month on a Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. This is a time for mothers and their children together singing, exercising, playing games, hearing a bible story. Cost is $1.00 per child 1 years of age and older. Children under 1 are free. Contact Yoshie Lee (bmjc@proclamation.org/ ) with any questions. Prayer Ministry Team Focus on Evangelism We know that prayer is fundamental to our evangelism. If people are to believe, God must open their hearts (Acts 16:14). Tina Simon has agreed to head up a prayer ministry team for the express purpose of praying for those we are bringing the gospel to. If you are sharing the gospel with someone and want this team to prayer for their salvation, please Tina (tm.simon@icloud.com) with your request. If you are interested in joining the team that prays, Tina would be glad to add you to that group for times of phone prayer. Seating in the Sanctuary In an effort to be as hospitable as possible, we are encouraging people to move forward in the pews, since there are rows in the front of the sanctuary that don t typically get used. We would also specifically ask that regular attenders would leave the last pew open, so that visitors and those with special needs have access to seating near the doors. Thank you for your help in making Proclamation a warm place to visit. Name Badges We want to do everything we can to foster community in the life of Proclamation. That starts by learning people s names. So, we want to encourage all members to wear their name badge on Sundays. This will help us to get to know each other and greet each other by name. We have adhesive badges and sharpie pens available in the hallway near the Parlor and at the port cochére entrance. If you don t have a name badge or you forget to wear it on a given Sunday, please take a moment to fill out an adhesive badge as you pass a name tag table. Thanks for your help in this simple gesture as we aim to grow in fellowship with one another. CityTeam grocery items needed Would you add one or more of the following items to your grocery list this week for CityTeam? There is a need this month for: baby food (Stages 1 & 2), mac & cheese, canned tuna, peanut butter & jelly, soups, canned beans (kidney, black & lima), pasta & pasta sauce, ground coffee and laundry detergent. Since Gary and Beth wrote last, they have had two Monday ESL classes for adults and children. There were 17 who registered for the adult classes and 4 children for the children's classes. There were 6 adults and 3 children who were new to our program. PLEASE PRAY that God will give all of them saving faith. We long to see Japanese turn to the Lord. The "extra" Bible time was attended by two Chinese ladies and one Japanese lady on the 18th and yesterday two Korean ladies attended. PLEASE PRAY that more Japanese students will attend. A new season of Papaya Club started on September 27th. This is for preschool children and their mothers. PLEASE PRAY many will attend and become connected with the Bryn Mawr Japanese Church. 9

11 Visiting with Us Today? We are always happy to have you with us and to enjoy your fellowship. If you have questions, please feel free to speak with one of our pastors or one of our elders. To help us learn how we might serve you, please fill out the Visitor Card in the pew back and drop it in the offering basket or leave it at the Welcome Desk. Families with Young Children Children are a gift to the Church and are warmly welcome at Proclamation. Before worship on Sundays, children of all ages are invited to attend graded Sunday School classes from 9:30-10:30 a.m. They may also recite their suggested memory verses, catechism questions, and hymns at 9:20 before classes begin. Classroom assignments are posted in the Education Wing. Nursery is available during the Sunday School hour for infants and toddlers. We welcome even the littlest ones in our worship services. We know children s needs vary by family and age, so we offer nursery during morning worship for children up to 2 years old. We have a nursing/cry room at the rear of the sanctuary for parents who need to attend to active infants, and we have screens showing the service in the slate hallway. While we encourage children to attend all of worship, we also offer the opportunity for children ages 4-7 years old to be dismissed mid-service for a children s worship time led by our Christian Education Director, Dave Moneymaker. Pink Prayer Request Forms Proclamation's staff and elders are happy to lift your concerns and praises to the Lord in their prayers. Please note that the pink prayer request forms have been moved from the pew backs to the narthex table. You can place your completed form in the box on the table, place it in the offering plate or hand it to one of our deacons. You are also welcome to contact Pam in the church office by phone or and she will convey your message to the staff and elders. Recordings Audio CD or DVD recordings of today s sermon and adult Sunday School classes are available for a small donation ($3/$5). You may order at the media table located in the Resource Room (across from the Parlor) immediately following the 11 am service, and pick up two weeks later (usually). If you desire a recording from a prior week, use the order forms that are available on the table.
