2 Welcome We warmly welcome you to worship at The Presbyterian Church in Basking Ridge. We pray that you will be encouraged in your journey of faith and drawn closer to God by your experience with us. Children and Families Childcare for infants and children ages 2 and younger is available in the church nursery during our Sunday morning services. Pagers are used to contact parents during the worship services when necessary. Oak Table Service We believe that worship nurtures children and that children enrich our worship life together. If your children become restless in worship, please feel free to quietly move around with them or join them on the carpet for young children behind the seating area. Sunday Worship Service 9:30 am Nursery care is available for children age 2 years and younger. Children in pre-school through grade 2 will be invited to leave for Sunday School following the Message for Children. Online Sermons Recorded audio sermons from most Sundays are available on the church website at To access, click on the Sermons link under Worship and Music on the main menu. Amplification Headsets So that all may enjoy the worship service, sound amplification headsets are available from the ushers for those who need assistance with hearing. Who Does God Call Us to Be? We are a vibrant, warm and welcoming community of faith. Those who worship here come from a diverse range of backgrounds and would describe themselves in a rich variety of ways. We acknowledge our doubt, our struggles, and that we are all quite human and imperfect and that we are each at a unique place on our faith journey. We find our unity, our common identity, in Jesus Christ and together we seek to joyfully worship God and energetically minister to the needs of the world on God s behalf. We gather in anticipation of being transformed by the power, purpose and presence of God among us, and go forth equipped to love God and neighbor more deeply and more wholeheartedly. We believe that faithful leadership of a church requires being open to new possibilities, taking risks and learning from mistakes as we try again. The flowers that grace our sanctuary each week are gifts from members of the congregation. Flowers may be given in memory or in honor of someone or to celebrate an occasion. Tree House Tree House Mural The Tree House has recently completed some exciting renovations to our entryway! If you have a moment, please come down the steps to the left of the stage in Westminster Hall and check out our new flooring and beautiful new mural painted by Caren Frost Olmsted. We have honored Beeb Jackson and our retired teachers, can you figure out how? Also, see if you can find the squirrel and the blue bird!

7 Opportunities to Give and Serve Homeless Solutions September 3 is our Final Date this year Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Luke 6:38 During difficult times there is nothing better to keep our minds off of our own troubles then to reach out and help someone in need. Homeless Solutions provides shelter for homeless men, women, families and Safe Haven guests. The mission council is seeking volunteers to prepare and serve dinner to these families at the shelter. Volunteers need to arrive at the shelter by 4 p.m. and dinner is served at 6 p.m. Clean up is done by the shelter residents. All menus are pre-planned or you may prepare your favorite specialty. One volunteer is also needed to shop for the groceries and all receipts are submitted to the church for reimbursement. If you feel called to this very special ministry please contact Karen Cokewood for additional details at Our final date for 2016 is September 3. Congregational Care Fund Offering For many years, our church has maintained a Congregational Care Fund which is used to help members of our church family who are in need of assistance. Distributions from the fund are administered through the pastors, and all requests are kept in confidence. In this time, when the economy is affecting so many of us, we are asking your help to replenish this important fund. To make a donation, please place a check in the offering plate with congregational care fund written in the memo line. Thank you for your generosity! Music Ministries Accompanist Needed! Your talent is needed for our children s mid-week ministry program. Children s Choirs rehearse Tuesdays from 4:30-6 p.m. during the school calendar year. Choirs also sing during multiple worship services. Please contact Beth Donley at bethdonley@ymail.com to discuss being our accompanist. Spirit and Little Spirit Start September 20 Spirit and Little Spirit are our mid-week programs of music and Christian education for children ages 3 years to grade 5. Little Spirit: children ages 3 through kindergarten meet Tuesdays from 4-4:45 p.m. Spirit: children in grades 1-5 meet Tuesdays from 4-5:30 p.m. Please sign up on our website brpc.org or contact Jackie Obregon or Beth Donley for more information. September 11 Fall Kick-Off Sunday One Worship Service at 9:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary followed by fellowship and festivities! East Oak Street will be closed down and we will have live music, great food, games for the children and a chance to learn more about our upcoming 300th birthday celebration.
