7 Music Ministry Opportunities Chancel Choir Every Sunday, September through May, our musical worship is led by the Chancel Choir. Singing with the choir is a wonderful way to praise the Lord, lead others to worship him, and to grow as worshipers ourselves as we rehearse and improve our singing. People need not have extensive experience to sing in choir; many do not read music well, yet have a passion for the Lord and his worship as well as music and growing as singers. Men and women, high school age through adults are welcome. Don t know what part you sing? Our director will find the right place for you. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings, 7-8:30 p.m. Nursery/toddler care is provided for children who are too young to participate in Boys of the Bible and Girls of Grace. For more details, contact Dr. Ryan Kelly at ryan@proclamation.org. Handbell teams Consider joining a handbell team this fall it s a fun, beautiful and creative way to praise the Lord in worship. Soli Deo Gloria: youth to adults, Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. IGNITE Handbell Team: children 3rd grade 8+, begins Wed., Sept. 20, 6:00-6:30 p.m. Hymnringers: for all ages, minimal, one bell and one book no music reading necessary! For more details contact Sandy Martin at sandy@proclamation.org. Intrumentalists Proclamation is blessed with many who are fine musicians on a wide variety of instruments. There are a number of opportunities for these players to assist in worship. The Proclamation Instrumental Ensemble plays in Sunday morning worship once a month, typically on the second Sunday of the month. They receive the music in advance and rehearse once at 10 a.m. the morning of worship. We are eager for more people to use their musical gifts. Interested high school and adult players of orchestral instruments should contact Sarah Seaman-Whitehead at sarah@proclamation.org. At our 6 p.m. worship service, we regularly are led to worship the Lord through the instrumental music of soloists, from children who are developing their skills to experienced adults. Children s Music Ministry Fall Kick-off Our Children s Music Ministry Fall Kick-off will be Sunday, September 17th after worship. Join Mrs. Leibensperger and Mrs. Martin for lunch and an informational family meeting at 12:30 p.m. in the Music Suite, followed by our first music rehearsal from 1:00-2:30 p.m. for children age 4 through 8th grade. 8 News 8 Pizza after Prayer Tonight Following our prayer service, we will have pizza in the yard (weather permitting) so that we can continue our fellowship over a simple dinner together. Sunday School Open House and Ministry Fair September 10 On Sunday, September 10, tables in the slate hallway will hold information about the various ministries and opportunities for service at Proclamation. Representatives from the ministries will be there to answer questions. Parents Starting at 9:30 a.m., you re invited to visit your child s Sunday School classroom to hear about the upcoming year. At 10:00 a.m, adults are invited to Room 243/245 to hear about the Fall Sunday School electives and Wednesday evening activities. Proclamation 101 Class If you are new to the church and are considering joining Proclamation, or if you have been here for years and would like a refresher on what we believe and how that plays itself out in our daily lives, join us for this new 11-week class beginning September 17 at 9:30 a.m. Ben Falconer will be the primary teacher, but other staff and elders will be involved. Topics include: Doctrine of Scripture - Doctrine of the Church: Government & Gender Roles Doctrine of Providence - Christian Life: Personal Holiness & Church Discipline Doctrine of Grace - Christian Life: Drawing Near to God in Prayer - Christian Life: Sharing Your Faith Please sign up in the narthex or contact Annette (annette@proclamation.org) in the church office by September 13 so that we can have materials for you on the first day of class. Delaware County Pregnancy Center Annual Walk For Life September 30 Once again we are preparing for the annual Walk for Life to help Delaware County Pregnancy Center. Thank you for all your help in the past. This year's goal is $60,000. I'm hoping that the LifeSteppers will be able to raise $1,500 toward the goal. The Walk will be held on Saturday, September 30th at Ridley Creek State Park; Pavilion #17. Please contact Chuck Frick if you are able to walk with us or sponsor one of our walkers. Thank you!

9 Audio for Post-Reformation Hymn Singing class Earlier this month, Dr. Ryan Kelly taught a three-week Sunday School class, The History of Post- Reformation Hymn Singing. Part 1, covered Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, the Lutheran Chorale, and the Reformed metricized psalm. Part 2, covered Watts, the Wesleys, hymn singing in early America, and the Gospel song. Part 3, 1900-Today covered the musical influences of American revivalism and evangelicalism, hymn singing in today s PCA churches, the goals of music ministry at Proclamation, and how individuals can grow as musical worshipers. If you were unable to attend one or all of the sessions, complete audio for the classes are online and can be streamed or downloaded at Kathleen Nielson to speak in New Holland, PA Saturday, September 16 Author and speaker Kathleen Nielson will give two talks based on her bible study John: That You May Believe on Saturday, September 16. The women s ministry of St. Stephen Reformed Church in New Holland has invited Proclamation women to attend. Kathleen s study opens with a remarkably beautiful and mind-stretching statement of who Jesus is. John clearly reveals Jesus identity as the promised Christ, the Son of God, who came to bring life to those who believe in his name. See flyer on the narthex table for registration information. Good-byes continued in August, as several dear visiting scholars returned to their home countries. A Christian professor from Nigeria, wrote: "I definitely will miss the wonderful interactions and discussions I had with the friendly people who come to RUF-I activities... I say a big 'Thank You' and pray that you continue in the wonderful work of making people to become friends." Because UD's English Language Institute continues to teach courses, and because many international students remain on campus, RUF-I has had plenty of ministry opportunities over the summer months. Our English Conversation Class ran for six weeks during July and August. But this week UD's fall semester began, so we hope to welcome many new global guests to Delaware in Christ's love! For Praise and Prayer: * Pray my Korean friend will watch & be moved by the gospel video I sent to him. * Praise the Lord for times to encourage Christian internationals at UD in their faith. * Pray for many divine appointments with newly arriving global guests on campus. * Pray for English Conversation Class plus "Dinner & Discussion" as they resume. * Praise the Lord for the joy of loving and serving the world at UD in His name! 10

11 Visiting with Us Today? We are always happy to have you with us and to enjoy your fellowship. If you have questions, please feel free to speak with one of our pastors or one of our elders. To help us learn how we might serve you, please fill out the Visitor Card in the pew back and drop it in the offering basket or leave it at the Welcome Desk. Families with Young Children Children are a gift to the Church and are warmly welcome at Proclamation. Before worship on Sundays, children of all ages are invited to attend graded Sunday School classes from 9:30-10:30 a.m. They may also recite their suggested memory verses, catechism questions, and hymns at 9:20 before classes begin. Classroom assignments are posted in the Education Wing. Nursery is available during the Sunday School hour for infants and toddlers. We welcome even the littlest ones in our worship services. We know children s needs vary by family and age, so we offer nursery during morning worship for children up to 2 years old. We have a nursing/cry room at the rear of the sanctuary for parents who need to attend to active infants, and we have screens showing the service in the slate hallway. While we encourage children to attend all of worship, we also offer the opportunity for children ages 4-7 years old to be dismissed mid-service for a children s worship time led by our Christian Education Director, Dave Moneymaker. Pink Prayer Request Forms Proclamation's staff and elders are happy to lift your concerns and praises to the Lord in their prayers. Please note that the pink prayer request forms have been moved from the pew backs to the narthex table. You can place your completed form in the box on the table, place it in the offering plate or hand it to one of our deacons. You are also welcome to contact Pam in the church office by phone or and she will convey your message to the staff and elders. Recordings Audio CD or DVD recordings of today s sermon and adult Sunday School classes are available for a small donation ($3/$5). You may order at the media table located in the Resource Room (across from the Parlor) immediately following the 11 am service, and pick up two weeks later (usually). If you desire a recording from a prior week, use the order forms that are available on the table.
