Why do we worship the way we do at Carolina? That's a great question! Each church is different in it's style, song selection, and order of service. At Carolina Presbyterian Church, our goal is to do everything in worship in a manner that glorifies God and edifies our congregation. The elders, in conjunction with the deacons and worship committee, have spent many months over the last year praying about what worship should look like at Carolina. Below is a philosophy of worship statement, formed by our church leaders. What you will find below shouldn't be new or shocking to anyone who's been here for a while: it's actually what we've already been doing for most of the last year. However, we thought it would be helpful to put into words what we are trying to accomplish, for the sake of good communication. As always, please come and talk with any church leader if you have questions about this. We are thrilled to join with you in the worship of our Lord together! Carolina PCA Philosophy of Worship: At Carolina Presbyterian Church, we desire to worship God in a manner that is both glorifying to God and edifying to our congregation. To glorify God, we seek to worship him with excellence, with an attitude of reverence (considering God s holiness) and celebration (considering God s grace), with a Christcentered focus rooted in reformed theology and founded on the word of God. To edify our congregation, we seek to worship God with some stylistic variation that reflects some of the preferences of our multi-generational church and community. We seek to employ these different styles in a way that promotes love and unity within the same worship service.

6 Announcements West Stanly Christian Ministries Food Pantry Donations of any non-perishable food items are appreciated. A donation box for the WSCM Food Pantry is located outside the church office. Benevolence Offering In association with the service of the Lord's Supper, we will receive a Benevolence offering at the end of the worship service. This will be for the sole purpose of giving relief to persons in financial crisis. The fund will be handled by the deacons. A Deacon will stand at each door and if you are desiring to respond to the Lord's Supper with an offering, you will simply drop yours in the plate. This isn't a replacement for your tithe of course, it is an additional voluntary offering. Leadership Training Class Beginning this Wednesday night (January 13) at 7pm, David Yoran will be teaching an 8-week Leadership Training Class, where we examine core biblical and theological convictions of Carolina PCA. This class will be in addition to, not in place of, the normal adult class taught on Wednesday nights. In this class will "go deeper" into some of the specifics of Presbyterian and Reformed theology and church government, as well as discussion on spiritual qualifications for church leaders. While this class is a requirement for all elder and deacon candidates (men who have been nominated and are interested in letting their name stand for election in May), THIS CLASS IS OPEN TO ANYONE who is interested in learning more about reformed theology (and would be recommended for anyone interested in becoming an adult Sunday school teacher or community group leader in the future). Please see David if you have any questions about this. Baby Bottle Boomerang Sunday, January 17 th Baby bottles will be available to pick up on Sunday, January 17th at the back of the Sanctuary for the Pregnancy Resource Center of Stanly County s (PRC) Baby Bottle Boomerang. Please take a bottle and place it in a strategic place as a reminder to pray for the safety and salvation of mothers and their unborn children. Fill the bottles with cash, coins, or check, as an offering to help those families in need. Return the bottles to the church on or before Sunday, February 7th. Monies collected through this mission will be your way of partnering with PRC in offering the love, hope, and truth of Jesus Christ to our community by befriending, educating, comforting, and supporting abortion-vulnerable adults and teens before, during, and after pregnancy. Faith Promise Goal for 2016 $85,000 will allow us to increase support to some of our missionaries or possibly add additional missionaries. We are currently sending support to 27 missionaries who are serving all over the world. We currently have $77, pledged toward Faith Promise offerings this year!!! Thank you for your generosity! Also, please continue to pray for a few more pledges. In order to meet our stated goal of $85, we need $7, in additional pledges.
