1 The Lord s Day September 9, 2018 And the Lord said to Paul one night in a vision, Do not be afraid, but go on speaking and do not be silent, for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many in this city who are my people. And he stayed a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them. Acts 18:9-11 Prelude Welcome & Visitor Information Opening Music Holy is the Lord - Choir *Call to Worship Psalm 95:1-2a Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving. *Hymn of Approach No. 650 I Will Sing of My Redeemer Prayer of Adoration and Confession Assurance of Pardon I John 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. *Affirmation of Faith Heidelberg Catechism Question 1 Q. A. What is your only comfort in life and in death? That I am not my own, but belong body and soul, in life and in death to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has delivered me from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, also assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.
2 *Hymn of Faith What A Beautiful Name Song Book p. 30** (Ushers come forward on last verse) You were the Word at the beginning, one with God the Lord Most High. Your hidden glory in creation, now revealed in You, Our Christ. What a beautiful name it is, what a beautiful name it is, The name of Jesus Christ, my King What a beautiful name it is, nothing compares to this. What a beautiful name it is, the name of Jesus. You didn t want heaven without us, so Jesus you brought heaven down. My sin was great, your love was greater; what could separate us now? What a wonderful name it is, what a wonderful name it is, The name of Jesus Christ, my King What a wonderful name it is, nothing compares to this. What a wonderful name it is, the name of Jesus. Death could not hold you, the veil tore before you You silenced the boast of sin and grave The heavens are roaring, the praise of your glory, for you are raised to life again You have no rival, you have no equal, Now and forever God, you reign Yours is the Kingdom, yours is the glory, yours is the name above all names What a power name it is, what a powerful name it is, The name of Jesus Christ, my King What a powerful name it is, nothing can stand against What a powerful name it is, the name of Jesus What a powerful name it is, the name of Jesus Prayer of Dedication & Presentation of Our Tithes & Offerings *Offertory Sovereign Over Us Song Book p. 24* There is strength within the sorrow, there is beauty in our tears. And You meet us in our mourning with a love that casts out fear. You are working in our waiting, Sanctifying us And beyond our understanding Your teaching us to trust Your plans are still to prosper, You ve not forgotten us; You re with us in the fire and the flood. You re faithful forever, perfect in love; You are sovereign over us. You are wisdom unimagined, Who could understand your ways, Reigning high above the heavens, Reaching down in endless grace. Youʼre the Lifter of the lowly, Compassionate and kind You surround and You uphold me, And your promises are my delight. Your plans are still to prosper, You ve not forgotten us; You re with us in the fire and the flood. You re faithful forever, perfect in love; You are sovereign over us.
