1 The Lord s Day February 7, 2016 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. - Acts 1:8 Prelude Welcome & Visitor Information Please sign and pass the Friendship Register Opening Music -Worship Ensemble *Call to Worship Psalm 67:4-5 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth. Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! *Hymn of Approach Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone Amazing grace! How sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now I m found, Was blind, but now I see. Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed! My chains are gone, I ve been set free. My God, my Savior has ransomed me, And like a flood His mercy reigns; Unending love, amazing grace The Lord has promised good to me, His word my hope secures; He will my shield and portion be As long as life endures. They start cooking around 6:15am (in case you want to come and enjoy the fellowship) and start serving breakfast at 7:30am. Communion Sunday Sunday, February 14th Next week, February 14th we have the privilege of participating in the Lord s Supper at the close of the worship service. Jesus gave the Lord s Supper as a GIFT to the church: it is a way of REMEMBERING the amazing, sacrificial love of Christ and it s a way of EXPERIENCING Christ. We encourage you to look ahead to next week with excitement and reflection. Excitement: because the Lord s Supper truly is a gift to us it nourishes us spiritually, much as food nourishes the body physically. Reflection: because scripture encourages us to take the Lord s Supper seriously to meditate on the death of Christ and to confess our sins before the Lord. Benevolence Offering In association with the service of the Lord's Supper, we will receive a Benevolence offering at the end of next week's worship service. This will be for the sole purpose of giving relief to persons in financial crisis. The fund will be handled by the deacons. A Deacon will stand at each door and if you are desiring to respond to the Lord's Supper with an offering, you will simply drop yours in the plate. This isn't a replacement for your tithe of course, it is an additional voluntary offering. Women s Bible Study Friday, February 19th at 9:30am The next Women's Bible Study will meet on February 19th at 9:30am at Julie Svenson s house (210 Abigail Lane, Locust).
