4 All High Schoolers are invited to the St. Barbara/Holy Child Youth Group Event on Sunday, May 6th from 6:00-7:30 PM at St. Barbara Parish Hall. There will be Food, Games, and a Faith Witness. Noon Mass Speaker Series Continues: Prior to Thursday and Friday noon Mass on May 3rd and 4th, join us for an inspiring series of talks on the promise and power of the Sacraments. Grant Franjione, Holy Child parishioner and Trustee of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology, will explore the mystery of the Seven Sacraments of our Catholic faith as revealed in Sacred Scripture and the teaching of the Church through the ages. The talks will begin promptly at 11:30 A.M. at Holy Child Church and conclude by 11:55 A.M. Dinner from Rome Fundraiser for St.. Barbara/Holy Child Youth Group. Taste the best Rome prepared by Fr. Five of us discussed our writing experiences and goals for the group. We have set the next 4 meetings. Hope you can come to some or all. No need to bring any writing, just come and discuss your interests. How can we follow God s plan for our lives and discover who we are? Jason Evert dives into these questions through his new book, Theology of the Body in One Hour. 5 LIVING BRANCHES The Gospel and second reading for this Fifth Sunday of Easter emphasize the need for us to remain in Christ, and he in us. This shared life finds expression in the image of the one vine and many branches. We become living branches of the vine, members of the Body of Christ through baptism, Eucharist, and confirmation, sacraments of sharing God s own life. The First Letter of John describes the fruit of this vine as active love of neighbor: And his commandment is this: we should believe... and love one another (1 John 3:23). Our first reading from Acts shows us an example of someone who shares in Christ s life in the person of Saint Paul. Paul s fearless witness, even at the risk of his life, is proof to everyone that the risen Lord s Spirit truly fills him with life and is bearing fruit in him. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. As we continue to share in the joy of the resurrection of Jesus during the Easter season, we must not be discouraged by the challenges that may come. Instead, we are called to go forward with hope for the good of our parishes and for the good of our own lives with God.
