New Parents Instruction Class will be held on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 7:30pm to 8:30pm in Room 257. Baptism is celebrated every Sunday of the month at 1:45pm. RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) Anyone who wishes to join the Catholic Church should call the Parish Office. Reconciliation (Confession) Saturday 4:00 to 4:45pm in the Church or call the Parish Office for an appointment. Matrimony Couples are requested to call at least six months before the wedding for an appointment with a Priest or Deacon to set the date and make arrangements. No arrangements can be made by phone. Anointing of the Sick Fourth Saturday of the month at the 9:00am Mass or call the Parish Office. We Assemble for Prayer Rosary Every Monday at 8:20am we pray the Patriotic Rosary. Before the 9:00am Eucharist Tuesdays through Saturdays we pray the Rosary. Miraculous Medal Novena We pray this at the 7:45am & 9am Mass every Tuesday. Men s Spirituality Group: Witness and grow in Faith. Meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7pm in the Church. Nocturnal Adoration A Holy Hour with the Blessed Sacrament is offered on the First Friday of each month, from 9:00pm to 10:00pm in the Church.

Thomas More Coogan, Administrator Dear Good Folks here at St. Joe s, One of the things I have loved about my weeks here have been my early morning runs. At first, I stuck safely to the roads so as not to get lost, but right around here there are many beautiful wooded trails. After a few days I got more adventurous and set down one of these and have been rewarded with shady ways that open up onto ponds and lakes. Although I did not know where they would lead, the apparent care and obvious plan of the roads made it clear that others in the past had gone this way before and I could trust it would be worth it to follow. In fact everything about St. Joe s is like that. This parish is evidence that long before I ever got here, good people had been at work and set things up with care and purpose. The adventure is in the exploration. At your service and His, Fr Tom Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Lazarus Ministry LAZARUS MINISTRY On Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the 9:00 AM Eucharist, we will have our monthly Liturgy for the commemoration of the dead. All those who have lost a loved one, at any time in the past, are invited to join us. We especially welcome the family and friends of those who have died in the previous month or whose anniversaries occur during this time. A table will be placed in the Baptistery for family members to place pictures of those who have died. There will be a place for family or friends to write the names of those to be remembered at the General Intercessions. There will also be an opportunity to remember each loved one by name in the Book of the Dead. Members of the Lazarus Ministry will be present to welcome you and to offer guidance; please let them know when you arrive. 5 Sunday, July 29, 2018 Deacon s Corner A FRIEND IN NEED TODAYS GOSPEL- JOHN 6: 1-15 I have always been fascinated by the boy in our Gospel reading today. We know very little about him. He was probably a peasant. At least he had a peasant s lunch, five barley loaves and two small fish, He glides into the Gospel story and then he glides out. And as far as we know is never heard from again. However, he stays long enough to remind us of something that we are prone to forget the importance of one person. We need to know that. Many people are overwhelmed by a sense of insignificance, oppressed by the magnitude of the crowd and the complexity of life. What can the individual be or do that would make an atom of difference? We d like to believe that we count for something. We wish with all our hearts to be of some importance, and the experience of this peasant boy speaks to that very real human need. He reminds us first of the uniqueness of the individual. Probably, from all outward appearances, he was much the same as all other boys of the region disheveled hair, grimy face, sandaled and dusty feet. But there was something different about this boy. He had something that no one else in the crowd had. He was unique. He was the only one there who had brought lunch. We need to get this clear in our minds there is something distinctive about every person. In some way everyone of us is unique. We have an expression in the western world we say of certain individuals, When God made him or her He broke the mold. The only trouble with that expression is that we usually reserve it for notable and famous people. When God made Abe Lincoln, He broke the mold. That is very true, but it is no more true of the rich and famous than it is of the poor and lowly. When God made you and me, He broke the mold. There is something distinctive, something unique about every individual. You have a contribution to make that no one else in all the world can make. If you fail to do it, it will not be done. I do, however, try to help whenever possible, and Barbara is wise enough to restrict my shopping list in terms of items, yet she is quite detailed with the parameters of the purchases to make sure I get the right things. Recently I travelled to a location which specializes in buying in volume. Each time I find myself there, I notice how the seemingly seasoned buyers are loading up their cart(s) with everything from dishwashing detergent to bedroom lighting apparatuses. Since I am there usually for a single item or perhaps two, I often feel that people are staring at me because my shopping basket seems so bare by comparison. As I walked around that day, I passed many stations where I could taste samples of hot chicken, organic popcorn, crackers, health drinks, and other foods and drinks I could later purchase. As I bit or sipped, I was given a short spiel on the merits of each item and urged to add one to my shopping cart. I am sure the direct approach works with certain people. What I understood best about the process, however, was the clear invitation for me to do something. Someone was asking me to try something new, and I heard the message very clearly. God is continually inviting us to respond to His call for our own holiness, yet there are times when we do not hear Him for one reason or another. Let us ask Him to help us listen for His Grace-filled calls and to at least try to do what He asks. Who knows? Like the organic popcorn, you may even like it!!!!!! Capital Campaign Gift Recognition St. Joseph s Church Centennial Campaign has ended. With the conclusion of the Campaign, a plan has commenced for the recognition of those donors who have completed their pledge of $3, or more. Guidelines for the five levels of Gift Recognition were given in the Centennial Campaign Booklet. If you were at one of those levels, a letter with an enclosed form was sent to you in May. Unfortunately, all forms were not returned by the deadline June 22. Please complete the form that was enclosed to reflect the way in which you would like the donation to be acknowledged. As soon as all the forms are returned, we will assemble the names under the designated Level of Pledge and send them to the engraver. They will in turn set them on the pages that will be displayed in a brass Memorial Book which will be mounted in the Church. Sending a child to school with new and needed supplies instills a sense of pride along with the message that school is important. New school supplies can be expensive and unaffordable to a family with limited income. St Joseph s Back to School Program helps with supplies that families are unable to afford. If you are able to help a child, you can either donate supplies or buy a gift card from Target, CVS, or Walmart. Also, you can sponsor a child in need by calling Sigrid at ext School supplies can be dropped off at the Outreach Center on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm. You may also drop off your supplies at the Parish Center office. You may find all the information in our handbook on the website. The Faith Formation Office will be closed for the summer beginning Monday, July 3 9th and will reopen on Monday, August 27 9am. There is a cart outside the Faith Formation Office with new registration and re-registration forms for those who still need to register and for any correspondence you may need to leave. Claire will be in at least once a week to return any messages and to update registrations. You may either leave a note on the pad in the hallway or leave a message on the FF answering machine. Donations of televisions and dvd players are needed for the faith formation classrooms. The annual registration fee is $140 for one child, $205 for two children and $260 for three or more.
