As the reality of what we have done to the earth bears down upon us, give us the grace to do what is necessary to cooperate with your redeeming care of the cosmos. Give us the generosity and courage to do without those things that destroy earth, water, air and all that they sustain. Bless us anew that we may bless the earth with healing care, letting all the earth tell of your glory, O God, Creator, Word and Holy Spirit. PRAYER PEOPLE Intention for Parish Community - Week 42 We pray for all parishioners who suffer because of domestic violence and bullying situations. In their fear and isolation may they have the courage to try and seek help. BE WITH CHRIST Jesus says: Whoever is not with me is against me; and whoever does not gather with me scatters. I sometimes feel that my life is like a scrubland, halfway between garden and desert. I sometimes feel that I live in a world of twilight, halfway between day and night. I sometimes feel like lukewarm water, halfway between hot and cold. I feel sometimes that I am in a state of indifference halfway between love and hate. I sometimes feel that I am trudging along a safe path halfway between good and evil. Lord, save from the illusion that because I am not against you, I am therefore for you. Above all save me from being neutral. 2 PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL In every Parish our Church teaches that there should be a Pastoral Council but often we are not sure what exactly such a council does.. There will be a meeting in St. Comgall s Parish Centre on Wednesday 29 th September at 7.30pm to discuss setting up a Pastoral Council in the Parish. If you are interested, please come along. PARISH SOCIAL COMMITTEE It is hoped to set up a Parish Social Committee to organise two or three functions in the year that would both raise funds and bring our community together socially. The first event that we hope to organize is a Christmas Bazaar this year. If you are interested and willing to help, you are invited to a meeting in St. Joseph s Parish Centre on Wednesday 22 nd September at 7.30pm. St. MacNissius Primary School, Coffee Morning. A coffee morning will be held in St. MacNissius Church Hall on Sunday, 26 th September, starting at 11.00am. Proceeds towards school funds. EVERYONE WELCOME. Round Tower Bowling Club Bowling every Monday and Tuesday in the Parish Centre commencing at 7.30pm. New members very welcome. Bowls available for beginners. St. Vincent de Paul Society Annual Street Collection will take place on Friday 1 st Oct, (10am 9pm) and Saturday 2 nd Oct. (10am 5.30pm). We are looking for volunteer collectors over the age of 16. If you could collect for 1 or 2 hours on either day please give your name and telephone no. to any member of the S.V.D.P. or to one of the priests. Belfast Beginning Experience provides support and is open to all who are widowed, separated and divorced. Weekly support meetings will be held each Wednesday evening commencing 22 nd September in St. Bride s Hall, 38, Derryvolgie Ave. Belfast from 8 to 10pm. 3 Twenty Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time 19 September 2010 Priest: Let us bring our needs and the needs of our parish community before the Lord with confidence in his great love for us. We pray for the Church and for our Holy Father Pope Benedict; may his words bring peace to those who are troubled, hope to those who doubt and may he, by the grace of the Holy Spirit renew and strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ.

4 We pray for our priests; may they be encouraged in their ministry by the prayers and support of the people they serve. May we remain faithful to prayer in our daily lives, interceding with the Father for the graces we need and thanking him for the good things he has given. We pray for those in positions of authority, employers and those elected to represent the people s interests; may they deal fairly with all especially the disadvantaged and marginalised. We pray for those who have died, especially Recently deceased: James Maguire and Gertie Butcher All those named in the bulletin may they enter into the glory and peace of heaven in the presence of Mary and the saints forever. Priest: Loving Father, hear these and all our prayers; we offer them through your Son Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.

5 Pathway Exploring Faith and Ministry This 2 year course runs from September to May each year. It is held one Saturday per month from 10am 4.30pm at Drumalis Retreat and Conference Centre. Further information and/or application forms can be accessed via the Drumalis website or telephone or Accord Regional Marriage Preparation Courses Ballymena Course 1 Tuesday 14 th, Tuesday 21 st and Tuesday 28 th September, All Saints Parish Centre. 7 10pm. Lord Jesus, the salvation to which you call us leads us from life, through death, to new life. Our weakness tempts us to hide from the cross and to seek an easy way. Keep us faithful to the celebration of the Eucharist and to all the mysteries of your life. Help us to build our lives in the firm foundation of your Good News, that grounded in your truth we may be worthy children of God. Every year marks more clearly the division between rich and poor. Send your Holy Spirit to guide us in the way of integrity and justice. 8 Lord Jesus, you blessed little children, and you give them into our care. Bless us now as we live the challenge of a wounded culture. Inspire us with new ways to let the little children come to you. Let our lives be your good news for them, guiding them to all that supports their growth in wisdom and goodness. Help them to find you in the depths of their hearts and to find there all that is to their peace; so may they learn to love and praise you. God Creator, Word and Holy Spirit
