However, in the Gospels the Son of God does tell us of the signs which must come to pass before the end of the world. What are these signs and what conclusions, however hesitant, can we draw from them about the times in which we live? Continued from the last bulletin Date and reality of the end of the world In the past decade or so there have been prophets who already announced the end of the world and were laughed at when it didn t take place. They were laughed at, because they did not know the Scriptures and, ignoring Christ's own words that no man knows of that day and hour (Matt.24,36) But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only, they imagined the precise dates of the end of the world. From this we learn that is always foolish to despise the words of the Savior and ignore the Scriptures. Some cynically will say that others have predicted the end, without giving a precise date, and still been found wrong. However,

2 many of these did not predict the end of the world, but the end of a world. This happened, as prophesied, in A.D. 70 with the sack of Jerusalem by the Romans and the end of the world of the Jews. This happened in 1066, when English people saw signs and understood that their world was coming to an end with the attack of England by the Normans. This happened again in , when Ukrainian people saw the iniquity around them and understood that their world was coming to an end with Bolsheviks lead by Stalin. Those who in such cases predicted the end of a world were indeed found right and vindicated. Yet other cynics will say that others have predicted the imminent end of the world, without giving a precise date, and still been found wrong. However, if such people care to consider these warnings, they will always find that the warnings were given conditionally. In other words, they always said that the world will end, if there is no repentance. The inevitable events prophesied by Christ in the Gospels can be put forward or put back. We have the freedom either to hurry the coming of Antichrist or to delay it. It is to this last group that we join ourselves. Not of course because we are prophets, or have any other virtue, but because we, like millions of others, simply hold fast to the two-thousand yearold Orthodox Christian Faith, the Faith of the Church of Christ, the Faith in the Resurrection. Certainly, no man knows the times and seasons (1 Thess.5,1), but if there is no repentance now, it is clear that one day there will be no more times and seasons. Simply because, people will destroy their world through sins against each others: hate, jealousy, deceit all of that and more is found in WAR. 4 Sunday School Blog Summer is almost over and kids heading back to school. The Sunday School year will be starting on Sunday September 14, We will be having a Meet and Greet with our teachers. We are in need of volunteers teach and or sub at Sunday School. Your thoughts, ideas are very important for us to make our parish even better place for fellowship, worship and fun. The results of the survey are currently being reviewed by the parish council. The appropriate measures will be taken to implement the necessary improvements derived from the results of the survey. Tree removal is underway Finishing of the Iconostas in the Temple. (Covering the brick) Selfreliance Credit Union office at our location is closing down and moving out. (Decision of the Selfreliace) Board in the search of the new Bank to deal with. Proposed Win trust Financial Bank Group. Dealing with GAF Roofing material manufacturer to start the process of sealing the Roof of the Hall Next scheduled Monthly council meeting is set for September 28, 2014 Sr. UOL Sr. UOL Chapter meeting is TODAY at the Cofee hour. All members are called to attend the meeting. All of those who are interested in joining the Sr. UOL Chapter join in. A young woman was giving her testimony in the church one night. There have been so many wonderful changes in my life since I converted. Why, I was so angry at my father so many years, I vowed I would never go to his funeral. But now that I am a Christian, I would be delighted to go to his funeral anytime! 8
