2 Parishioners, The central message of today s gospel is about the two great commandments of love given by God to His people and is summarized by Jesus. These two shall never be separated from each because it has the same quality, meaning and implication. God is love and everything he does flows from his love for us. God puts us first in his thoughts and concerns. He wants us to love him personally, wholeheartedly, and without any reservation or compromise. Do you put him first in our thoughts? All Saints Day: This celebration is focused on all the saints of Heaven, but especially on those we could call the little people of Heaven: those obscure, un-canonized, un-beatified, uncelebrated and anonymous saints whose names are not found in the liturgical calendar of the Church. Let us draw inspiration from the lives of the Saints and work toward holiness. All Souls Day: November 2 is the Feast of the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed in purgatory. As we remember our departed loved ones today, we will remember too our own death. The paramount question is: Are we prepared for that inevitable moment and make an accounting of our lives before God? Wish you all a Happy Halloween! /s/ Fr. Sunder Ery PLEASE REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS. That is, all baptized Catholics - under pain of serious sin are obliged to participate at Mass. The schedule of Masses for that day is listed on the front cover. The Solemnity of All Saints celebrates those Christians who witnessed their faith in Christ even to death. The theology and the celebration of the feast emphasize the bond between those Christians already with God and those still on earth. The feast points to our ultimate goal to be with God. ALL SOULS DAY. Thursday of this week, November 2, 2017 is the feast of All Souls. A day we remember all our deceased loved ones and all Christians that they may rest in peace. The feast of All Souls reminds us that some deceased loved ones might still need some purification, that our prayers (i.e., having a Mass celebrated for a deceased loved one) and good deeds to help those who have died draw closer to the Lord God.
