SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION Confessions are heard on Saturdays from 4 4:30 p.m. or by appointment. ANOINTING OF THE SICK The sacrament is available after the 8 a.m. Mass on Saturdays. Urgent calls to administer to the seriously ill are received at any time. The sick person s family should notify the priest. Call to arrange for the Eucharist to be brought to shut-ins. 3 St. Rosalie s Bulletin Page 3 From the Pastor s Desk Today is the Solemnity of Christ the King. We give thanks for God s good gifts bestowed upon us! Jesus Christ is King of all creation and today we celebrate the fact that He is our King, A King who is unlike all others, a King who loves us and cares for us, a King who is our God! God has blessed us with so many gifts. And all of you have gifted others less fortunate than us. I am amazed by the generosity of all who have put a turkey and all the dressings on family tables throughout our parish. Thank You, Muchas Gracias! At this time of year the food pantry becomes depleted. Now during the colder weather supplies are flying off the shelves. Therefore, I ask you to bring non-perishables to the Parish Center! Canned corn is one example. Any small item or bag full is wonderful! It goes a long way. Thanks for all you do for the poor, the unemployed, those in temporary need! Catholic Ministries Appeal I am so thankful for all who have made their Catholic Ministries Appeal pledge. You can still pledge. We ae short about $3,000 in making our goal of $82,100. At that time significant rebates come back to St. Rosalie s parish! It s especially a way to be part of the discipleship of our Parish Family, helping those in formation for priesthood, reaching out to those in need, etc. Works of Mercy Our Committee for the Common Good has been meditating on the works of Mercy. The St. Vincent de Paul Society and our Parish Outreach also live these works. Examples of the Corporal Works of Mercy include: Feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, visiting the sick and burying the dead. Spiritual Works of Mercy include: comforting the afflicted, counseling those who are doubting, forgiving offenses, bearing wrongs, patiently. It is in fact about being disciples of Jesus Christ! Did you know Both Father Maddaloni and myself are priests that assist with Project Rachel. This is the Catholic Church s program for helping both men and women who have had an abortion. This ministry is a wonderful way to reach out in love and compassion to those suffering silently. Talk to a priest, don t suffer alone. First Sunday of Advent begins on December 2 and 3 During Advent, I also ask you to consider bringing a family member, neighbor or friend back to the Catholic Church. Why not Belong More Deeply COME HOME FOR CHRISTMAS! This is the Evangelization and Dramatic Missionary Growth that our Bishop John Barres has been speaking about often. In your envelopes you should have received a flower offering envelope where you may memorialize loved ones during the Christmas season. A Thanksgiving Day prayer, by Brian F. 6 Page 6 St. Rosalie s Bulletin Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ: The St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Rosalie's Church just wrapped up our third year of serving the "neighbors in need" of St. Rosalie's and the numbers are wonderful. Thank you for All of your support, whether it was your contribution in the Poor Box, participation with our Mother s Day diaper drive, support of our "Walk for the Poor" or the enormous amount of prayers, Thank You. During the October 2016 thru September 2017 period we made 462 visits, either in the way of home visits, hospital, eldercare or other in person visits. During these visits we saw 513 neighbors of St. Rosalie's. That means we saw the FACE OF JESUS, over 500 times, WOW. Thank you for that most powerful experience. The Society served those neighbors a total of 2,068 Hours, and logged 1,459 miles in service to others. Thanks to all of you, the SVDP at St. Rosalie's raised over $13,000.00, which enabled us to give direct services of over $11, with a surplus of over $4,700 dollars. Please know that Every Penny Raised Here, Stays Here, But More Importantly, Every Penny Goes to Our Neighbors in Need. Not One Cent Goes to Any Other Cost. We are very proud of this, and thank you for all your support. Please think about joining us as a Vincentian, we meet twice a month. Our hands are few, but our reward is Great. Please know that Vincentians around the world, all 153 countries, pray every meeting for our benefactors. Please do not put bulky items such as televisions, bikes or large toys outside the drop boxes. Those items can be donated to our regional store at the above phone number. Your cooperation with this helps save us money by not having to dispose of those articles which cannot be used. Due to NYS law, we cannot accept beds, mattresses, box springs etc. We give only new beds to our neighbors in need. 9 St. Rosalie s Bulletin Page 9 Our Lady of the Hamptons School A full program of Fine Arts is one of the hallmarks of OLH, taught by strings instructor Song A Cho, professional dancers Elyse Madsen-Curro and Marcia Krenzel, professional guitarist, Joseph Basar and drama coach Sister Kathryn Schlueter. Programs in band, strings, ballet, tap, jazz, drama and chorus are open to all students as part of the curriculum as well as after school activities. The annual Bucks for Books campaign to benefit the school programs at Our Lady of the Hamptons is on now and will culminate in the February 1 drawing of the prizes totaling twenty-five thousand dollars. Tickets are available now at the school. Call for details. While the first trimester of the school year is just ending, it is already time to think of the possibilities for Catholic education at OLH for the school year. Registration will take place in late January, but information is available now. Placement in the elite OLH Prep program for grades 6,7 and 8 is at a premium, so early consideration is advised. This program features Regents level courses in Math and Science, as well as an aggressive ELA curriculum and integrated Fine Arts. OLH Pre-school for young children is offered at the campus of St. Rosalie s Church in Hampton Bays. There has been an outstanding response to the four-year-old program, and registration is now closed for this term. Early registration for the school year is beginning now. Tours and conferences leading toward admission can be arranged. Informational packets are available. Call to set up a personal appointment and tour. La institución de esta fiesta es relativamente moderna: la proclamó el Papa Pío XI, al finalizar el año santo de 1925, para expresar que Jesús está en el principio y en la plenitud de nuestra fe. Después del Concilio Vaticano II (1965) dicha fiesta se celebra el último domingo del tiempo ordinario. La liturgia de hoy contribuye a darnos un cuadro bastante completo del sentido de la realeza de Cristo, que no es puramente la afirmación de su soberanía y su dominio sobre los seres humanos y sobre las cosas, sino sobre todo una afirmación de su amor.
