SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION Confessions are heard on Saturdays from 4 4:30 p.m. or by appointment. ANOINTING OF THE SICK The sacrament is available after the 8 a.m. Mass on Saturdays. Urgent calls to administer to the seriously ill are received at any time. The sick person s family should notify the priest. Call to arrange for the Eucharist to be brought to shut-ins. 3 St. Rosalie s Bulletin Page 3 From The Pastor s Desk O n behalf of the priests, deacons and staff of Saint Rosalie s parish I wish all of you a very happy and Blessed Easter! Alleluia, alleluia, we have completed our Lenten journey! Today we celebrate the Feast of the Resurrection and we recognize that the Paschal Mystery is the central focus of our faith as Catholics. Jesus died and rose from the dead so that we might have life and have life to the full. Each Sunday in a very real way we celebrate the Resurrection. But today on Easter Sunday and during the Easter Season, with all the lilies and other fragrant-filled flowers around the Church, we have a greater SENSE OF NEW LIFE: the Spring! During this Holy Week, 2017, we have celebrated and re-presented the mysteries of our Catholic faith: We have journeyed together to the Upper Room celebrating as Christ did the Last Supper. We walked the Way of the Cross with Christ to Calvary and waited by the tomb. Together as a parish family we entered into these celebrations and therefore brought these mysteries of our faith closer to our hearts during the Holy Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday. This Triduum is the culmination of our faith as Catholics. On Easter Sunday morning we celebrate the fact that Christ is Risen! As in the last few years we also celebrate His Resurrection down at the Shinnecock Inlet. As we celebrate by the ocean, could this not have been the scene at the Sea of Galilee? What a beautiful setting against the backdrop of the fishing boats and the sea! Divine Mercy Sunday Next Sunday, April 23, is known as Divine Mercy Sunday, or the Second Sunday of Easter. Three years ago Pope Francis canonized two of our recent popes of the 20th and 21st Centuries: Pope John Paul II and Pope John XXIII. Blessed John Paul had just been beatified (made blessed) in This was a very quick turnaround after an investigation of the Holy Father s life and the encouragement of the faithful since John Paul s funeral with the echoing cries: Santo Subito! (Make Pope John Paul II a Saint immediately). Pope John XXIII was beatified by Pope John Paul II on September 3, 2000! Let us join together in prayer remembering these two men who have made such a dramatic contribution to life in the church and the world as we know it today! The Gifts of St. John Paul II We do remember the great gift St. John Paul II gave to us and the great example for all of us on how to live and die! He lived with excitement and he died with dignity. What an example of living the Christian life to all of us and to the world! Pope Saint John XXIII is perhaps the most influential pope of the 20th century known as The Good Pope who surprised the world with his reforming spirit calling the Second Vatican Council and the author of such beautiful encyclicals as Pacem In Terrris (Peace on Earth). We continue to celebrate with Joy this Easter Season which actually includes Seven Weeks of Easter. My Wish for You I wish you and all those you love: Easter Peace and a Joy that does not end! Celebrate your Faith these Easter Days with joy and exuberance! Those who wish to minister in hospitals, nursing homes and to homebound persons are also required to attend a second session on Saturday, May 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Rosalie s Community Center. Pope Francis, May 21, 2014 EARTH DAY, SATURDAY, APRIL 22 St. Rosalie's celebrates our fifth Earth Day on Saturday, April 22 as we gather in groups to remove trash and litter from our beautiful Hampton Bays. Over the five years our parishioners have taken on this significant task, our numbers and successes have grown. Once again, we look forward to making a significant difference in the gift of our landscape. We will gather on the back porch of the Parish Center for bagels and coffee at 8:30 a.m. on April 22 and head out shortly thereafter. (Rain date is Sunday, April 23 at 1 p.m.) This activity puts into action our moral and Catholic responsibility to care for the environment. As we enjoy all the signs of spring renewal of life around us, let us join all creation in praising God. Then let us live out our gratitude for the gifts of the earth by engaging in continued actions, habits and promoting public policies that preserve the fruitfulness of the earth, to better protect both human beings and the whole community of life that God loves. 10 Page 10 St. Rosalie s Bulletin Our Lady of the Hamptons The Class of 2017 will sponsor the annual SENIOR CITIZENS LUNCH- EON, a celebration of food, entertainment, games, fun and good company on Friday, April 28, beginning with a welcome and first course at eleven thirty in the morning. There is no cost to any senior for this event, although reservations are requested. Interested seniors may call to reserve seating. Transportation is provided from Bishop Ryan Village. The annual BUCKS FOR BOOKS campaign to assist with the financial support of the school and also to afford the lucky winners of the raffle up to $15,000 in prizes. The raffle is limited to one thousand chances at $100 each, and will be drawn either on May 1 or on the day the one thousandth ticket is sold, whichever comes first. The twenty-fifth annual LADIES LUNCHEON and CHI- NESE AUCTION will be held at the Muses in Southampton on Sunday, April 30. Reservations and ticket information can be obtained at the school or by calling Sponsorships of the event are also available. 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration This spring, couples that have been married fifty years or more will be honored at a special Mass on Sunday, April 30, at the Church of St. James in Seaford. Spring Open House Sunday, April 30 at 1 p.m. Molloy College Rockville Centre St. Vincent DePaul Society Reflection Today is Easter Sunday and the culmination of the holiest of Christian weeks. Let us pray for the grace to take up our own cross and to follow Jesus through death to new life. Please support the Society of St. Vincent DePaul so that together we can help the poor as they carry their cross of suffering and pain. May we be always ready to share our blessing when we are sent in His name! St. Vincent de Paul Society Happy Easter from your St. Vincent de Paul Society. In this Easter Season, a time to rejoice and be thankful to Jesus for all he has done for us, we are asking that you do the same for the Mothers of the parish. With Mothers Day coming on May 14, we are asking that you remember your Mother with a donation of diapers for the food pantry. All 62 Conferences of SVDP throughout the Diocese are asking all our parishioner's to support the mothers that utilize the food pantry. We do realize that diapers are very expensive, and a mother should not have to decide between milk and food, or diapers. So, if you want to purchase diapers, but find that the expense is too much, maybe ask a friend to go half with you. For those of you that might want to buy a club size pack, one of our Vincentians will separate the pack and rewrap them. We ask you to bring them to Church on May 7 as we do not want to interfere with the Knights of Columbus Mothers Day Rose Sale on Mothers Day. Please don't forget to buy those roses, every penny goes to Birthright.
