A sense of repetition might come from the Gospel reading too but that could just be due to the reading itself. A dense reciprocity is being explored here. 2 Receiving Communion All who seek God's mercy are welcome to receive the holy communion at St Mark's. Both normal and gluten-free wafers are available; as is wine from the common chalice and grape juice from individual cups. If you find it difficult to come to the chancel, communion can be brought to you in the pew. If you do not wish to receive, you are welcome to come to the communion rail for a blessing cross your arms on your chest. Contact the rector, Peter Greenwood rector@southhurstville.anglican.asn.au Floral memorials It is the practice at St Mark's (and other churches) that the congregation remembers past members, loved ones and special occasions through a floral memorial an opportunity to give thanks to God for the life and witness of those loved and lost. The memorial is in the form of a donation to cover the cost of flowers that adorn the sanctuary for worship. Tomorrow, Monday 14 May 2018 at 7.30pm MU Project 2018 Help for oppressed women in the Mara Diocese, Tanzania, is the 2018 Project for Anglican Aid & Mothers Union Sydney. For this year s joint project we need help to purchase sewing machines for the Jitegemee Tailoring Centre, started by Mothers Union to empower women to find good employment and help bring cultural change. 3 Next Sunday Pentecost Pentecost (or Whitsunday) is the annual festival of the Holy Spirit 50 days after Easter recalling the occasion in Jerusalem when the Holy Spirit filled the disciples and impelled them to proclaim the good news to pilgrims in the city. 5 Dedication of organ bench in memory of Marlene Mylecharane After the Confession and Absolution, the congregation stands The Choir gathers around the new organ bench and says We present this adjustable organ bench, in memory of Marlene Mylecharane, to be set apart for the service of Christ's holy Church. Presider All things come from you, O Lord; And from your own gifts do we give to you. Prosper the work of your hands; Prosper our handiwork. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet. Praise him with lyre and harp. Let us pray. Almighty God, we thank you that you have put into the hearts of your people to make offerings for your service, and have been pleased to accept their gifts. Be with us now and bless us as we set apart this organ bench to your praise and glory, and in memory of Marlene Mylecharane, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. O Lord, before whose throne trumpets sound, and saints and angels sing the songs of Moses and the Lamb: accept this organ bench for the worship of your temple, that along with the voice of music we may proclaim your praise and tell it abroad; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Almighty God, we remember before you today your faithful servant, Marlene Mylecharane in whose name this gift is dedicated; and pray that we along with Marlene, and all who have faithfully served you, may share in the eternal victory of Jesus Christ our Lord. 6 The organ bench The new adjustable organ bench, has been sourced from a German supplier by Peter D G Jewkes Pty Ltd. It is made of oak timber, fully adjustable, and polished to match the organ case. A similar bench has been supplied to Scots College Bellevue Hill. It has a manufacturer s 10 year guarantee. The new bench is consistent with St Mark's desire to ensure our 'worship and work places' are compliant with good work health & safety practices. The cost of the organ bench has been kindly donated by choristers and others in the congregation this support is greatly appreciated. 6
