Your Vestry has called, with the consent of Bishop Robert Fitzpatrick, The Reverend Irene Tanabe to be our next rector. Reverend Tanabe is from Seattle, Washington. Her ministry at Epiphany will begin on Easter Sunday, April 20th. Until then, The Reverend Robert will continue to serve as our interim Rector. Mahalo to the Search Committee for their work. The members of the Search Committee are Nanlyn Sue, Glenn Shea, Barton Low, Carrie-Ann Kokubun and Keola Akana. Also, mahalo for your continued support during this transition period. Kevin D. To get ready for Epiphany's Bazaar March 29, 2014, 8 a.m. -2 p.m. Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper Fundraiser Two of our young people, Kawehi Perry and Koa Sueoka, shown below, will be attending the 2014 Episcopal Youth Event (EYE14) on July 9-13, They will join other youths from across the United States in an Urban Mission designed for youth grades 9 to 12. Also, someone will be here to accept items Monday to Friday, March 24-28, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. It would be much appreciated if you would mark these items--bazaar Donations. *Please note the following: 1. Plants and food such as cakes and pies should be brought in on Friday, March 28 because we do not have space to store them. 2. Please label food with ingredients, especially if they contain raisins, cranberries and nuts so that people with food allergies can avoid them. All food items must be labeled and priced. Prior to the election of new vestry members, Kevin thanked the Class of 2013 for their service--earleene Garvey, Bruce Hanohano and Clifford Shive. (Photo by Maedene Lum) Service Crosses for 2013 were awarded to Marilyn Wong and Wilma Naumumnart, shown above. Marilyn leads the Altar Guild and serves as an eucharistic minister. Wilma has served as treasurer for many years and has coordinated numerous special sewing projects. A million thanks to all these dedicated individuals who so willingly serve our church!

3 March 2014 Volume 10 - Number 2 Page 3 Episcopal Youth Event (EYE) Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori announced that the popular Episcopal Youth Event (EYE) will be held July 9-13, 2014 in the Philadelphia area in partnership with the Diocese of Pennsylvania. The 2014 event marks the twelfth EYE and remains a popular and well-attended event. EYE 2014 is geared for youth in grades 9-12 during the academic year and their adult leaders. We invite each diocese to send a delegation of diverse young leaders who represent the breadth of The Episcopal Church across the globe. Cost is anticipated to be $325. ECW Meeting by Penny Stover The Episcopal Church Women's meeting was held at St. Andrew s Cathedral on February 8, Rev. Martha Blanchett began the meeting, speaking on the text, Let your light shine before others, for you are the salt of the earth. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and passed and various committee reports were given. When discussing the calendar for the year s meetings, dates that I thought might interest you are: April 12 at 9 a.m.- a Quiet Day Retreat at St. Anthony s Retreat Center in Kalihi; November 8 at 9 a.m.; holiday crafts workshop; and December 13, the Annual Holiday Luncheon. February Visitors Freezing temperatures in 49 states bring visitors to Hawaii, not only whales and birds, but people as well. A warm welcome to all. Both Koa and Kawehi have been active in many youth activities over the years. Koa is an acolyte and scripture reader; Kawehi has been a scripture reader and narrator for several pageants. Koa is a sophomore at Hawaii Baptist Academy. He plays baseball, and is interested in political science, computer programming and web development. He participated in a model United Nations project. Kawehi, a sophomore at Mid-Pacific Institute has interests in hula history, basketball, kayaking and volunteering with the Hawaii Red Cross.
