1 January- February 2019 Good Samaritan Newsletter HIKARI From Contributing Editor - Myrtle Kaneshiro A Happy New Year to all Good Samaritans. We will soon be entering the season of Epiphany in which the Wise Men visited our Lord and presented Him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. The Wise Men journeyed far from the east to visit our Lord and so we continue our journey for a new ministry with a permanent part time priest. Do not be dismayed, depressed or distressed for the Lord is with us. Just as the Wise men had faith in following the star, we too must have faith that the Lord will help us. With patience, kindness, joy, love, peace and faithfulness, a new creation in Christ is born. And now, little things are happening in and around the church and with faith, bigger things will occur. Amen. Bishop s Committee Highlights: 1) PLEASE JOIN US! Annual Meeting is January 27 followed by a potluck. Here we review the year, discuss and approve the budget and elect two new members to the Bishop's Committee as well as delegates to the Diocesan Convention in October. Note: It is important to elect two new members to the Bishop s Committee, for without that, we cannot do our monthly business and this is a sign of our fragility as a church. Do you want this? Since we are a small church, everyone asked to serve must not think of it as a one time deal. 2) Bishop Fitzpatrick s visit is planned for July 20, ) Pledge forms: please turn them in so that a budget will be presented at the Annual Meeting. Pledge forms were mailed but copies are at the back of the church and can be downloaded from the church website at
