Seek the Lord is Isaiah s invitation. Even the scoundrel and wicked the prophet invites to turn to the Lord because Isaiah knows in the Lord is forgiveness so generous and so abundant that one will never turn back to one s old way of life. The Lord s thoughts as so infinitely high, like the heavens, that we find our hope for mercy in the Lord. He understands the core of his faith to be life in Christ. Whether he lives or dies, he knows that he glorifies Christ in his body. His dilemma is that if he went on living, he could still serve the Philippians and continue the work of spreading the Gospel. If Paul were to die, he would be with Christ. In the midst of his own suffering, he exhorts the Philippians to behavior befitting those who proclaim the Gospel of Christ. Gospel: Matthew 20: 1-16 We move ahead from the conclusion in Matthew 18 and Jesus teaching on forgiveness to the beginning of chapter 20, where Jesus tells his disciples the parable of the landowner and his workers. The landowner hires workers a varying times during the day, but pays them each the customary daily wage. Those laborers who worked more hours understandably exhibit frustration. The landowner s generosity turns the workers worldview upside down. Such is the way it will be in the Kingdom of heaven, where the last will be first and the first, last. This is God s new paradigm.

This certainly applies to this Bible passage. We have a responsibility not only for our own lives, but for the lives of others as well. We are called to generously share our gifts with others, not hoard them for our own use. Our gratitude and generosity helps us live Godcentered lives and not self-centered lives. Khanh In August : 38 Adults / 24 Children / 304 Families received food assistance Coordinator: Carolyn Won Individuals helped included those who were Homeless or in Shelters and Veterans in need. Food Pantry Hours: Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:30pm-4:30pm Our Outreach/Food Pantry volunteers minister to those in need. Non-perishable items are collected during each Mass on the weekend from our dear parishioners, as well as other generous donors. Our coordinators work closely with the Office of Social Ministry and Catholic Charities Hawaii. Volunteers also pick up non-perishable items from the Hawaii Food Bank on a weekly basis. Food is also brought in from Aloha Harvest. In 2009, close to 10,000 individuals were served through our Food Pantry. God is more offended than ever as people ignore Our Lady s maternal request to stop offending God. Yes, we must listen to Our Lady s request and stop sinning if we hope to enjoy God s blessings and to avert His wrath. He will hear us, if we pray through the intercession of His Blessed Mother. That s why we re doing the 2017 Public Square Rosary Crusade. In The Secret of the Rosary, Saint Louis de Montfort said: Public prayer is far more powerful than private prayer to appease the anger of God and call down His mercy, and Holy Mother Church, guided by the Holy Ghost, has always advocated public prayer in times of public tragedy and suffering. 6 "BLESSED is she who believed that what the Lord has said to her \would be fulfilled." Luke 1:45 Reflection: The Rosary is a devotion strongly embraced by the pro-life movement. In the Hail Mary we praise a mother, and we worship the fruit of her womb. Our salvation began because a mother said yes to the life within her! In the Rosary we also say, "Pray for us sinners." We know that sin is in the world, but we start by repenting of the sin within us. That is the best way to rebuild the Culture of Life. Prayer. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY Please join us every 2 nd Sunday of the month at the Ka Punawai Ola Nursing Home near the Kapolei Jack In The Box at 3:00 p.m. to pray the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet. It brings them such joy! Please join the Respect Life Ministry on the 1st Saturday (Fatima reparation message) of each month -- October 7, 2017 at 7am before the healing mass to pray the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet for the reparation of all the children murdered by abortion, for the conversion of those who continue to support it, to put an end to assisted suicide and to pray for the strengthening of the Culture of Lifefaithful marriages, children and families. 2017's October's first Saturday falls on the Feast of the Holy Rosary! October 7th will be the perfect time to make a commitment to pray the Five First Saturdays as Blessed Mother asked for... FIVE FIRST SATURDAYS DEVOTION In December of 1925, Our Lady appeared to Sister Lucia, giving her the following guaranty of salvation for those who complete the First Five Saturdays Devotion: I promise to assist them at the hour of death with all the graces necessary for the salvation of their souls." Why Five Saturdays? The five first Saturdays correspond to the five kinds of offenses and blasphemies committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary: 1) Blasphemies against the Immaculate Conception. 2) Blasphemies against her virginity. 3) Blasphemies against her divine maternity, at the same time the refusal to accept her as the Mother of all men. 4) Instilling indifference, scorn and even hatred towards this Immaculate Mother in the hearts of children. 5) Direct insults against Her sacred images. How to complete the Five First Saturdays Devotion: On the first Saturday of five consecutive months: 1. Go to confession; 2. Receive Holy Communion; 3. Say five decades of the Rosary; 4. Keep Our Lady company for 15 minutes, meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary; 5. Have the intention of making reparation to Our Lady for the offenses listed above.
