3 Jauary 20, 2019 Servig Others CONTINUED St. Joh XXIII Catholic Church stopped by a parishioer. He said that I probably would ot remember him, but two years earlier, I gave him Commuio whe he was i the hospital. He told me that it was a particularly tryig time for him as he faced several medical coditios. He said that it was my visit with him that reiforced his faith i God ad led to a successful outcome. He said, "Thak you agai!" Beig a positive ifluece for people is the best reward. Servig others is what we are called to do. At the parish office, we recetly received the followig from a patiet at the hospital. "I would like to express my thaks for the care that your parish commuity showed whe I was a patiet i a Fort Myers Hospital a couple of weeks ago. Two members of the parish came with Holy Commuio, ad a priest aoited me. (We discovered that we had a priest acquaitace i commo, so the world really is small.) I was very impressed by this ecouter with St. Joh XXIII parish!" SERVING IN OUR HOMEBOUND MINISTRY: The Homeboud Miistry realizes that the spiritual eeds of our parishioers do ot stop oce they are o loger able to atted Mass. Whether our parishioer is experiecig a disability or uable to come to Mass for a short period of time, we have a miistry that reaches out to them to serve. Per Hele Tuffy, we provide time for prayers ad brig the homeboud the Eucharist. I some case we may be the oly people they see week-to-week. Our miisters may also idetify other eeds the homeboud perso may have ad we ca further help by sharig those eeds with our Parish Nurses ad other agecies whe applicable. SERVING IN OUR SENIOR LIVING COMMUNITIES: Our miistry to our seior livig commuities is resposible for brigig the Eucharist to Cypress Poit, Maor Care, ad America House facilities. We brig the Eucharist to seior care ad memory care homes. This miistry is growig ad i additio to these commuities, there are several more curretly beig built withi our church boudaries. Deaco Fracis Head, who leads our miistries at the seior livig facilities, recetly shared the followig: "This miistry has give me so much. My parets ad gradparets are all deceased, yet through this miistry I have experieced the love ad wisdom our seiors offer. It is amazig that by makig the effort to serve others, they are actually miisterig to me. I receive such satisfactio from brigig the Eucharist to our parish family who is uable to travel to the church." The Miistries of Eucharistic Outreach help these vital members of our parish cotiue to participate i parish life eve though they are uable to travel. It is through this work that we ca serve "the least of these" as Jesus taught us. Each of these miistries is a growig area ad we ask you to joi us. No matter how much time you have available, we ca use your help i this rewardig miistry. Please cotact the parish office at (239) for more iformatio.
