3 The Reading is from St. Paul's Second Letter to Timothy 3:10-15 TIMOTHY, my son, you have observed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, my persecutions, my sufferings, what befell me at Antioch, at lconion, and at Lystra, what persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. Indeed all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceivers and deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings which are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. The Reading is from The Gospel of Luke 18:10-14 The Lord said this parable, "Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week, I give tithes of all that I get.' But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!' I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted." 9 Pre-school Coop Attendance: 4 SUNDAY SCHOOL REPORT FOR FEBRUARY 14 ~ Vision Statement ~ To be a community of engaged and educated young Orthodox Christians. ~ Mission Statement ~ To encourage and foster spiritual growth of young people in our Orthodox Faith. Kindergarten & First Grade Donna Thomson Attendance: 13 2nd & 3rd Grade Jonna Myatt Since it was Valentine's Day, we talked about friendship. The goal of the lesson was to help kids understand why they need to choose the right kind of friends. We used play dough to demonstrate how people around usshape us in different ways. Tough people who put pressure on us can make us feel weak and are not the best to hang out with (like play dough gets weak under too much pressure). Our friends should shape us softly and encourage us to become the people God wants us to be. ( We made cups out of play dough.) After the lesson the children shared stories about friendship, peer pressure and school. We also talked about the great story of friendship in the Bible, the story of David and Jonathan. Attendance: 5 4th & 5th Grade Daphne Courey & Anastasia Theodorou In Attendance: 9 6th to 8th Grade - Presvytera Eleni & Harriet Tsoukalas The students continued to work on their Oratorical speeches, incorporatin references and thinking about application to their lives. Parents, we appreciate your encouragement of your children and the effort theyre putting in. They are working hard! Our church s Oratorical Festival is Saturday, March 12th. s were sent to all the parents with a detailed schedule.
