These funds benefit the local pregnancy resource center and maternity home with free pregnancy testing, counseling, sexually transmitted disease and abstinence education, shelter, food and other services to women in need. Funerals Funeral home personnel will contact the parish office for you to make all the necessary arrangements. First Mass and Reception His first Mass as a Deacon will be celebrated on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Church. There will be a reception following Mass in the Family Life Center. All parishioners are urged to attend and show their support to Deacon Barry as he begins his life as a Deacon. ISIDORE, THE FARMER Rogation Days Farmers Mass Blessing of the Fields and recitation of the litany of the saints to ask God s protection on the crops will take place on: Tuesday, May 10th at 7:00AM at the Al Cramer Farm Located on Monceaux Rd. Wednesday, May 11th at 7:00AM at the Todd & Alfred Zaunbrecher Farm Located on Zaunbrecher Rd. Thursday, May 12th at 7:00AM at the G, F & P Zaunbrecher Farm Located on Hwy. 90 In case of rain, the blessing will be held in church. On Monday & Wednesday it would be at the conclusion of Mass. Everyone is invited. The Annual St. Isidore Farmers Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 14th at 7:00 AM at St Joseph Church. Farmers and gardeners are encouraged to bring soil from their fields to be blessed during the mass. An invitation is extended to the entire community to share in this beautiful liturgy where we ask for God s blessing on the fields, gardens, orchards and seeds to be used in the production of food. A reception will follow in the Family Life Center.

5 2016 Vacation Bible School May 30th through June 3rd, 9:00 am to Noon each day on the Rayne Catholic Elementary Campus Time is getting close to the registration deadline. If your child did not attend last year registration forms are available at For assistance or additional questions, call the CCD office at Ext. 121 YOUR HELP IS NEEDED At all entrances of church there is a poster board with Buddies that have supplies that are needed. There is also a box provided for the donated supplies. Some Buddies say monetary donation. These funds should be marked as VBS and brought to the Parish Office. They will be used to purchase specialty craft supplies. Other Buddies will have baked goods on them. Please contact Georgette at ext. 121 or georgette@stjoerayne.org to let her know the kind and amount you plan to bring. All supplies and donations are needed by May 20th. HURRICANE SEASON In recognition of the 2016 hurricane season (June 1-Nov. 30), the Louisiana Conference of Catholic Bishops has designated Friday, June 3rd as a Day of Prayer and Fasting for protection from hurricanes & storms. Please join in this effort to ask for God s mercy and protection. The Diocese of Lafayette will offer four Prayer Services/Mass throughout the Diocese. Rather, true freedom and happiness can only be found in the love of Jesus. Your happiness has no price. It cannot be bought: it is not an app that you can download on your phones nor will the latest update bring you freedom and grandeur in love. That is because love is a free gift which calls for an open heart, he said. It is a noble responsibility which is life-long; it is a daily task for those who can achieve great dreams! Francis challenged the young teens to not be content with mediocrity, or believe those who equate importance with the sort of toughness shown by heroes in films, or by wearing the latest fashions. Don't believe those who would distract you from the real treasure, which you are, by telling you that life is beautiful only if you have many possessions. Even if you disappoint him and walk away from him, Jesus continues to want the best for you and to remain close to you; he believes in you even more than you believe in yourself.
