Classes are held the 4th Sunday of the month after 10AM Mass. Sacrament of Marriage: Call the Parish Office at least 6 months in advance of desired wedding date to schedule an appointment with Father in order to set the wedding date & begin the preparation process. Sacrament of Reconciliation: 30 minutes prior to Mass or any other time by appointment. Communion for the Shut-Ins: Please contact Deacon Tommy ( ) to schedule visits by a Minister of Communion. Funerals: Families should contact the Funeral Home to make all the necessary arrangements. Parish Membership: Every family in St. Joseph Parish is asked to register with the Parish Office by filling out a census form. 6 Permanent Diaconate Formation Discerning for something different in your life? Are you already serving in the parish and feel there might be a calling to more? Deacon Jim Kincel has informed the priests in the diocese that Bishop Jarrell has authorized a new formation program for the permanent diaconate. If you think you might have a calling to more ministry and want more information please give Deacon Jim a call at He is open to visiting with you over the phone or in person to answer any questions you may have. There is no obligation on your part for commitment to any program. If the Holy Spirit is calling we need to allow the Spirit to speak to us. CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES Next week, our parish will take up the Catholic Relief Services Collection. This collection supports six Catholic agencies that touch more than 100 million lives around the world. The funds from this collection provide food to the hungry, support to displaced refugees, and show Christ s love and respect to all people. Based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the retreat consists of the retreatant s meeting with a director once a day and praying on assigned passages from the Scriptures. This weekend introduction helps the retreatant learn the prayer techniques and prepares the person for a longer retreat. Scholarship information is available upon request for those in need of assistance. God s Surprising Presence For the Hebrews, God s word was a fountain. Jesus plays with the image as he speaks the word that quenches the woman s thirst. That such an outpouring should come in the midst of an onerous chore might be the equivalent of someone today trekking to the grocery store and finding enlightenment among the canned soups. The woman is responding to a driving, physical need: she simply wants to fill her bucket and get home before it gets any hotter. She is completely surprised by an encounter which changes her life. The event reinforces the recurrent scriptural idea that splendid events do intersect the daily routine - at the well, not the synagogue; in the office, not the church; in the kitchen, not the temple. It s good news that supposedly unhallowed ground is sacred.
