5 RELIGIOUS EDUCATION Children are the Future Parishioners of our Church. It is the responsibility of every Christian to insure that they are provided with a Christ-Based Foundation. Baby Berries Is a faith-filled, fun hour of Bible stories, singing, dancing, crafts & prayer. Parents, Grandparents, caregivers & children 0-5 years are invited to The Family Life Center on Thursdays at 9:00am Rayne Catholic Elementary Partners with parents in educating the soul as well as the mind and body of our youth. Grades Pre-K through 8th grade Small classes (averaging 22), degreed teachers (average 16 years experience) This year offering expanded technology classes and foreign language For more information or to register call Children Meeting Jesus Religious Instruction for Pre-K through 5th graders Registrations have been mailed out. Deadline to turn them in is August 31st. Classes begin September 10th and are held on RCE Campus every Monday evening from 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm. Joe s Café Christian-based recreation for 6th, 7th & 8th graders Kick-Off is August 24 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm in the Youth Hall. They meet every other Friday evening. Anyone interested in helping call Life Teen Religious Education for 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th graders. EDGE Religious Education for 6th, 7th & 8th graders. 6 MEET THE DEACON Deacon Thomas Adams, Sr. Ordained on August 18, 2012 Dear Parishioners: I am a newly ordained Deacon for the Diocese of Lafayette that is assigned to St. Joseph Parish. I have been a lifelong resident of Rayne and a member of St. Joseph Parish, except for a brief time when I lived in Houston, TX and in Lyons Point, LA. I have been married to Peggy Credeur Adams for twenty-nine years. I have three children. My first born is Tammy Adams Keller who is married to Darren. They are currently living in Dallas, TX and are the proud parents of Ethan and Avery Keller. My second child is Diedre Adams Clement who is married to Shannon and is currently living in Hathaway, Louisiana. Shannon and Deidre have two children, Amya and Landon. My youngest child is Thomas Adams, II and he is married to Simone Thibodeaux. They are the proud parents of Thomas Adams, III and Noah, who will be born this month. My children and grandchildren bring such joy to my life. They constantly inspire and motivate me to become a better person and servant of God. The desire to change my life and to serve the Lord, as gratitude for all He had done for me, began in I attended a handicapped Cursillo #348 and was deeply moved. After attending this Cursillo, I became involved in the formation and leadership instructions of the Cursillo and remained involved in the movement for years. That ultimately changed my life forever. Fr. Bill Ruskoski and Fr. Buddy Breaux spiritually guided and motivated me to become an active member of the church. Working alongside Dan Besse and Tim Ledet, who are both permanent deacons, fueled my desire to also become a deacon. I entered the Deacon Program not really knowing if I was being called to the ministry or not. Once I persevered in the studies and formation for well over five years, through much prayer and discernment, I have come to know that I truly was called by God to become a permanent Deacon. I would like to thank everyone from St. Joseph Parish for all of the support and prayers given to me throughout this process. I look forward to serving this parish. Please do not hesitate to call upon me for assistance and prayers whenever you are in need. God bless you one and all. Pray for our new pastor, Fr.
