Classes are held the 4th Sunday of the month after 10AM Mass. Sacrament of Marriage: Call the Parish Office at least 6 months in advance of desired wedding date to schedule an appointment with Father in order to set the wedding date & begin the preparation process. Sacrament of Reconciliation: 30 minutes prior to Mass or any other time by appointment. Communion for the Shut-Ins: Please contact Deacon Tommy ( ) to schedule visits by a Minister of Communion. Funerals: Families should contact the Funeral Home to make all the necessary arrangements. These donations may be made in memory of loved ones. MEMORIAL MASS The annual memorial Mass honoring deceased members of St. Joseph organizations will be held on Monday, December 16th at 7:00 pm. A beautiful candlelight ceremony will be held prior to Mass where family members of the deceased are invited to come up and light a candle in their memory. A reception will be held in the Family Life Center following the Mass. 5 CHILDREN S CHURCH Effective December 1st, Children s Church will be held on the FIRST and THIRD SUNDAY of each month only. Please note that the classroom and procedures are changing. Parents will need to bring the children to the classroom before Mass and pick them up after Mass. The new classroom is on the RCE campus adjacent to South Parkerson. Children s bulletins will be given out in class. Parents must sign in and sign out their child. 6 STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS I m thankful, Lord - so thankful You ve blessed me day by day. Food, shelter, friends and family You ve given when I pray. And though I am quite grateful For these things I hold so dear, What I really cherish most of all Is Your presence ever near. I may be full or empty. I may be glad or sad. But You re the constant in my life, The best blessing I could have! Thank you, Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe Today s solemnity, the final feast of the Church year, is a youngster as feasts go. In 1925, Pope Pius XI was distressed by global political upheaval and the de-christianizing of society. That year was a Holy Year, keyed to the sixteen hundredth anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, when the words and of his kingdom there will be no end were added to the Creed. The Pope explained that although most feasts had developed over many centuries, the Church sometimes provided a new feast to address new needs. He pointed to the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, showing Christ s love and compassion in a time when many people embraced a cold and gloomy spirituality. Originally on the last Sunday of October, in the late 1960s the solemnity of Christ the King was moved to the last Sunday of the year. Fresh from baptism s waters, we are anointed with chrism as Christ was anointed priest, prophet, and king. This feast is a key to our identity. On this feast, we recognize Christ as a king who breaks the usual mold of kingship, and who shapes his kingdom with our hands, our words, our deeds of love and service. A Christian is one who is invited. Invited to what? You are invited to join in the feast, to the joy of being saved, to the joy of being redeemed, to the joy of sharing life with Christ!
