As we move into our 50th year, we have many new and exciting things coming up brought to you by your loyal team of volunteers. Already we have changed the hours so you can stop by more conveniently. We have some on-going newsletter changes in store including a month or two advance notice on some of the classes so you can plan accordingly. For those who get the newsletter by e- mail, we will be reformatting its message, possibly eliminating the.pdf attachment. You will be able to subscribe and unsubscribe easily through links in the . In the Library itself, a Balinese Space Clearing has been done twice this year with the intention of prosperity and shifting energy. We now have two working floor lamps in the small conference room for those instructors who prefer not to use the overhead fluorescents. Hundreds of new books have been added to the collection since December. The website will soon list them on a separate tab. A thousand more books will be added in an additional space we are creating. Security cameras have also been added to protect your books. A 12-Point Plan has been developed to review all Library areas to determine what areas are working and what is not. Your president (me) will be traveling to the Seattle Metaphysical Library on a mission of information sharing this month. We purchased a new white canopy to take our Traveling World of Mysticism and Used Books from the Vault on the road to new events. Already this year we were at Dr. Bronner s fun events, and future plans are to be at the Escondido Street Fair in the fall. Lastly, we would love to have your input and suggestions! A suggestion box will be available in the Library in the next few months, but in the meantime you can suggestions to me at: info@philosophicallibrary.org or snail mail to Dan McMiller at the Library address. 2 Page 2 Starr s Spotlight Volunteer of the Month: Izabelle Joie Doucet Starr: How did you become connected with the Philosophical Library? Doucet: I met Dan at the Escondido Street Fair and I invited him for an EFT class. He came and then invited me to do EFT classes at the Philosophical Library. Starr: What are you passionate about, what makes you want to wake up and jump out of bed in the morning? Doucet: I know that I am here to help humanity wake up, this is my mission. I m here to help facilitate the transition of, old era, old consciousness with the coming of a new era, and a new consciousness; in other words, the Ascension process. Starr: If you could meet one person on this planet, dead or alive, who would it be and why? Doucet: I have a spiritual mentor and a great friend named Lazaris. I consider he was the greatest friend that I have in this lifetime and continues to be so, even though he is not in a body. He constantly comes to me, when I call on him and answers my requests. My greatest challenges in life he has helped me to overcome. Starr: What do you feel is the most challenging thing people in the world face today? Doucet: Lack of hope, people have lost faith in the economy, and the lack of values and the confusion that ensues. Starr: What one thing about the Philosophical Library would you like the world to know? Doucet: That it is the perfect support system for people to (how do you say) Starr: (transform their lives) Doucet: Absolutely! Starr: What new things can we look forward to from you? Doucet: I will be giving EFT classes in Spanish. I have been teaching for three years and have developed a following. I try to respond to the emotional and educational interests of my students. It takes a life-long time to embrace the Beloved. O Sarmad, very few are given this wealth. and no longer viewed his individual self as important. Sarmad pursued and achieved a path which was at once a radical separation from man, and a radical unity with God. Sarmad was a great mystic, well known in India but practically unknown in the West. He produced poems centered around his path of devotion to God. His poems would stand today on their artistic merit, but within his poems there is so much straightforward truth that they can be read over and over indefinitely for inspiration and understanding. To this day there is disagreement over what religion Sarmad belonged to, whether Hindu or Muslim. The explanation I prefer is that his mystic practice had no connection to specific religious dogmas. How long should I continue thinking of my black record? Why should I bother about my past, present, and future? All my problems are solved, When I take shelter in His grace and mercy. From the quiet corner of poverty I watched the world, and walked through it. By thus keeping aloof, I saw the fun and was at rest. Worldly men miss both the fun and the rest. My friend, be not taken in by the good and bad things of the world. Give not thy heart to these. Where did I learn this? In my own reflection in the mirror, Which showed that the good and the bad is in me, not in the world. The poetry, the path, and the philosophy of Sarmad are special. He belongs to no single religion. Sarmad belongs to the mystic tradition. Sarmad belongs to those who will pick him up, and love him and use his poetry to search themselves for what is truth in this world. Sarmad alone is worthy of speaking for Sarmad, and so I leave you with one final poem: For Sarmad, when one loves God, they cease to create new problems for themselves, and when they love God they cease to be tossed about by old problems. His path was a single-pointed one of total absorption in devotion and love. In his love and devotion he no longer considered individual things to have importance, Behold! This transitory life is only a bubble; This ocean of tumult is only a mirage; Open thy inner eyes and see. The world is a looking-glass, reflecting thy own image. Like the image, it is nothing.

Rendsburg of Rutgers University. Discovered in 1947, the scrolls include copies of the old testament Bible plus texts from the 3rd century BCE through 68 CE that provide an unprecedented view of Jewish history, culture and religion from before and during the time of Jesus. The Philosophical Library has been serving Southern California and the community of Escondido for over 48 years. That s where volunteers come in.
