The evening will include speakers, open house, pot luck, an opportunity to meet the Library members as well as the board, movies, questions answered, class introductions, philosophical discussion, planning for the vision of the Library, tea, coffee and more! 2 Page 2 Other Than This This is the season for gift giving! So, welcome to ronananda s Ultimate Gift Giving Guide. I shall give each of you a recommendation for the perfect gift for everyone on your list. Heck! This will work for people that are not even on your list! Here it is: Acceptance. Acceptance of what they are. Acceptance of who they are may follow along. There is a vast difference between the two. Acceptance of another is a gift you can give anyone in fact, everyone, that is rarer than a perfect diamond and more valuable than the finest gold. Everyone has the desire to be accepted, simply for what they are. Everyone. The ability to accept others often accompanies the sense of one s self as being ok and accepting of themselves. It is also often a sign of enlightened thinking, or Understanding. To know those others are simply unique unto themselves, and in Heart and Being, their True Self ; they are essentially no different than you. All too often we view another as how they affect you, what impact they have on yourself. Of course, this impact is almost always an impact on your ego that imaginary sense of who you believe yourself to be, that collection of memories and experiences that a person believes defines a me. But that s a different article, maybe next month. This is easy to start: Look at another as what they are, and not who they are. This may seem to counter the current politically correct climate so this shall be explained. By looking at someone as what they are, instead of who they are, both your personality and their personality are eliminated. This eliminates personality conflict which is an understandable, if sometimes inconvenient, reality to people s relationships. You may not appreciate another because their personal traits do not mesh with yours. That s ok. That s just a part of acceptance which I ll explain later. But when you eliminate the personality traits, you are now left with what they are. And this is the fundamental bottom line. It is this what that so many find unacceptable of another person. The other person may be of a different ethnic background, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, or economic group. There are countless differences. It is all of these differences to which I am referring, that deny a person s acceptance. This is very different than accepting another regardless of their personality traits. Accepting another, regardless of their personality traits, does not mean you must live with another s abusive behavior or put up with unacceptable dishonesty, or tolerate behaviors of a kind you are uncomfortable with or be their best friend. Quite the opposite. When you recognize these traits in another and you accept that person as they are with those traits in full, then you can decide and choose whether or not to include that person in your life. It is when you do not accept another as they are that you begin to doubt yourself, compromise what s right for you, and fall out of touch with what you want in personal relationships. Personally, I do not appreciate another because of their ability to play a sport, ability to argue, or their position in the company we both work for. They are accepted and appreciated; because they are. So for this Holiday Season - Stop looking at the world as it s all about me, or trying to make it all perfect, creating stress, and making it hard on other people. You want to give the ultimate gift to someone? How about giving the ultimate gift to everyone? Realize, experience, and accept yourself and your life that you are living as an incredibly precious and unique gift to this world and to this Universe. And the gift to give my friends, is to recognize and AC- CEPT everyone else as that too. Just as they are. She spent many, many days unpacking books, getting them shelved and into the right order, then moved into the position of keeping our Library open two days a week as deskworker and coordinator of the used book section. We are grateful that her spirit led her to the Library at a time when she (AND her skills) were so needed. Lyndi is a Reiki Practitioner through the lineage of Dr. Maikao Usui, and works with spiritual nature to tap into an unlimited supply of life force energy to improve one s health and enhance the quality of life. As a Feng Shui consultant, Lyndi also works with energy for balance of mind, body and spirit, not only for personal inner peace, but also sacred space for home and business.
