3 If you mostly answered YES, your score indicates that you are very much on THE HEROINES JOURNEY The heroine s journey is a mythical structure that shows the character arc and growth as a woman goes through the internal struggle in her quest for identity, who she is authentically and how to put herself in the game in a way that is congruent with her highest potential, passion and purpose. The heroine explores how she can triumph, despite feeling undervalued, ultimately finding balance within her duality and emerging empowered, fulfilled and authentic. Here is my interpretation of the heroine s journey and if you recognise yourself in the story, then sister - you are in the right place! 4 THE HEROINE SEPARATES FROM THE FEMININE IN FAVOR OF THE MASCULINE The journey starts in childhood within the Patriarchal society and masculine values that we are conditioned with. As she enters womanhood, the heroine grows to consider the feminine as weak and powerless. She might be afraid she will become her mother or is determined to be more like her father. Embracing the masculine, doors open to a path that excites her. She does her best to gain her Fathers (or Father figure) attention and approval. She receives praise from men for her strength and tenacity, yet notices her feminine qualities and vulnerabilities are frowned upon so she discards the feminine as much as possible.

5 TRIALS & TRIBULATIONS The heroine fully embraces the masculine. She has something to prove to herself and others. She wants to get the job done and achieve security and prosperity. Masculine allies surround her. She considers herself one of the guys although knows deep down that she isn t fully accepted because she is a woman. She does whatever she can to prove herself worthy and is working towards a big victory. She is single focused and seldom does anything simply because she wants to experience it. She is always compensating for the feminine lurking within her and works hard with single-minded focus.

6 THE ILLUSION OF SUCCESS The heroine has faced great trials and has emerged victorious. She feels the thrill of success and her confidence is bolstered by the applause and appreciation of others. She has built an impressive, masculine reputation. She craves adventure and victory in masculine pursuits. As soon as she finds success on one quest, she immediately sets out on another quest. Her victories are never enough and she does more to distract herself and whatever it takes to maintain the outside validation and applause that makes her feel validated as a person. After many victories that she thought would bring fulfillment and happiness, she realizes that something is missing and desires change, even though she may be unsure what that is. This stage is fraught with giving way more of herself to her work than any other part of her life and a growing awareness that there is more to life than work.

7 THE DESCENT From the known and mastered, into the great unknown... Tragedy strikes or a huge change happens quickly (often by choice) Everything changes and she is suddenly made aware of what is important to her. She rejects the external success that she has achieved and all that it represents. When her masculine allies invite her to join them on their next adventure, she turns them down. She inherently knows that this path is no longer for her and she withdraws into a period of voluntary isolation and within to search for her new identity. This is the downward spiral of transition where she has to face and deal with all of her emotions. The call to heal and become authentic is strong and she meets her anger, guilt, shame and grief as she begins to reclaim all the disassociated parts of herself.

8 MEETING THE GODDESS In her darkest hour, she awakens to the truth of who she is and becomes aware of her inner goddess the true nature of her divine feminine and the best of what she had left behind as a young girl. Her inner goddess imparts a great truth to her about who she really is and just how powerful she is when she stands in her own truth as a woman. Even though she is reborn through this stage, she still wanders aimlessly and tries different personas and identities on for size. All her masculine strategies fail her and she rejects the masculine in many ways. Something within her knows she can transform into her highest potential when her full concept clicks. Then, she can claim her turn and apply all the skills, knowledge and tools she has learned along the way.

9 RECONCILIATION WITH THE FEMININE She heads back to the familiar surroundings she left behind. She finds and discovers her inner child (the part of her that she left behind before she rejected the feminine) She may seek to reconnect with her Mother in a new way or gains new understanding about what it means to be a woman. She spends her time on simple tasks of a feminine nature yet SHE RECEIVES LITTLE GLORY OR FINANCIAL REWARDS FOR HER WORK. Former allies find her and try to convince her to return to the way she was before the descent. She knows she doesn t want to return to her old life. She may find peace with some old friends or family who turned their back on her when she chose the masculine path and rejected the feminine path and all those who were living it. During this stage, she rediscovers her love of the feminine she might reconnect to nature and grow her own plants; start taking better care of herself; improve her cooking or home management skills and take up long forgotten creative pursuits, often those she enjoyed as a little girl. She continues her humble work with LITTLE REWARD. She has hope that if she continues down the path that feels right for her, she will be redeemed. She waits patiently (or maybe not so patiently) for improvement.

10 REINCORPORATION OF THE MASCULINE A crisis erupts in the realm of the feminine. In dealing with this crisis, she once again faces the masculine side of herself, ready to emerge and take action. She now understands the inner role her divine masculine fulfills and why she lost herself in it before. During this stage, she comes to terms with her Father and other prominent men in her life. She heals and integrates her masculine side and starts taking inspired action. She recognizes that whilst her time in the masculine dominated world was not part of her authentic expression, it was, an important part of her journey. Now, she channels her masculine impulses positively. She solves the crisis with serenity and grace, with no expectation of reward.

11 THE UNION AND HOLISTIC DANCE The heroine has found a sacred union and balance between her masculine and feminine parts. She is not finished with this stage until she is in service, helping others, often through the exact struggles she had to overcome. She uses her synergy of the masculine and feminine to bring it all together and finally things click into place. The heroine has found her new identity and how she desires to put herself out into the world. Her newfound balance allows her to receive inspiration and guidance in the feminine and take inspired action in the masculine. Her natural leadership abilities come to the fore again as she shares her understanding or even guides others through all that she has overcome herself.

12 Love, accept and approve of yourself to give yourself permission to be your authentic self and live the life you are meant for in all your glory Over the next week or so, I am going to send you an a day that describes the formula I developed as I found my way back to wholeness. The formula itself is simple; This is what I used to embody my purpose more on my own journey: 1. Know who you are at this stage of your life and start managing your own energy 2. Know what you really desire and why you desire it 3. Craft a plan on how to achieve it 4. Clear any limiting beliefs, counter intentions or programs that no longer serve you 5. Anchor in your new normal 6. Course correct as your awareness and forward momentum bring your clarity Here is a bit of my own story that I hope will illustrate the path and that you will recognize yourself in my story My coach reminded me about The Heroine s journey as I entered the 8 th stage and I was blown away with how my whole life s journey to date was covered. Something within me clicked this was the exact model I had been searching for. It still amazes me that once The Heroine s Journey concept was in my conscious awareness, I found notes I had written on it, talks I had listened to and I realized that it had been there all along hidden in plain sight.

13 I had joined my dad s business as a junior sales rep when I was 20 and spent 10 years working my way up through the ranks. By then, I was running the business and handled the sale and integration of the business to a consolidator, making my first million by the age of 30. It took me 3 years to turn their biggest loss making company around into their highest profit flagship business. I was then asked to amalgamate 13 tourism businesses into one, as CEO of what was to become, the largest Inbound tourism company in Southern Africa, at the time. Over the next 4 years, I developed a dedicated and visionary team of profitable market leading brands with integrity, passion and purpose. All the while, believing my light work was in corporate business and that my contribution was making a difference. The patriarchal system eventually wore me down and I was 38 when I felt the illusion of success wane. 41 when I left my 7-figure corporate career and home country to move to the other side of the world to start a new life with my beloved and to find my authentic passion and purpose. And soon entered the Descent part of the journey... Fortunately, my interest in metaphysics had always been strong and I was drawn to study with top mentors and coaches for 4 years, honing my intuitive coaching skill and coming back to my authentic self. Let me not underplay my years of struggle! I searched relentlessly for the answers. My confidence shattered and I completely forgot who I was and all that I had achieved. I could not get clarity on exactly what I wanted to do; who I wanted to serve nor how to put myself out there. My rock bottom moment was thinking that dying would be easier! I made a decision right there and then to do whatever it took to find myself and success again no Matter what! I realized that to move out of struggle, I needed to love, accept and approve of myself and give myself permission to be my authentic self. Easier said than done, however, it was the starting point of rising from the ashes like a Phoenix, I like to think. As I invested in myself and found my way, I reclaimed my feminine and made peace with my masculine. Once I felt healed and on track, I felt compelled to share the healing techniques and empowerment tools I have learned along the way with like-minded women on the same path.

14 The heroines journey is an inner journey and going within, is the only way to proceed. The more you try to do all those things that you think you SHOULD do, the more stuck you get. 15 A new dawn is breaking. The old Patriarchal system is crumbling and the old masculine way of discarding the feminine has passed. This is the time that we came here for ladies. To heal ourselves, our ancestral lineage and to claim back the balance between the feminine and the masculine. As we do this within our own bodies and circles of influence, we lead the way for those who are ready and every transformation shifts the mass consciousness a little bit higher.
