Even though Valentine s Day is not the only holiday in February, it seems as if it s the holiday most marketed by retailers. As soon as the reduced Christmas items are off the shelves, we re bombarded with hearts of all shapes and sizes. Boxes of candy, jewelry ads, florist specials. When we are faced with these symbols, are we thinking of love only in a relationship, personal way? You might think that you love family members (or not, as the case may be) but you can t stand some of your coworkers. Are you supposed to love everyone? In one of her many books, Catherine Ponder, inspirational author and minister of Unity church, spoke of personal and impersonal love and I thought I would pass this concept along to you. We can express our love to everyone if we look at it this way. Personal love is kindness, affection, tenderness and devotion to those close to us in what we would consider our family group, even if not blood-related. Impersonal love is basically the ability to get along with people, without personal attachment or emotional involvement. It s good will toward business associates and those with whom we interact in our workday world. It s respect and acceptance of others knowing that everyone is trying their best and though we re all different, we are connected. It would be a boring world if we were all the same! Remember, also, that love is first within you and is released outwardly through your thoughts, feelings, words and actions. Work this month to develop the love from within and you will What s Up? Issue not feel at the mercy of people, situations and conditions. When you radiate this love into every part of your world, the whole world will respond in a most wonderful way and you will experience the success power of love, finding success in everything you do! 2 Page 2 Marriage Crystals Have Arrived!! February is a popular month for both weddings and engagements. Do you need a unique gift for such an occasion? Tibetan Prayer Flags Now Available The Indian Sutras, originally written on cloth banners, were transmitted to other regions of the world as prayer flags. Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. The flags do not carry prayers to gods, which is a common misconception; rather, the Tibetans believe the prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread the good will and compassion into all pervading space. Therefore, prayer flags are thought to bring benefit to all. By hanging flags in high places, the blessings depicted on the flags will be carried to all beings. As wind passes over the surface of the flags, which are sensitive to the slightest movement of the wind, the air is purified and sanctified by the mantras. The prayers of a flag become a permanent part of the universe as the images fade from exposure to the elements. Just as life moves on and is replaced by new life, Tibetans renew their hopes for the world by continually mounting new flags alongside the old. This act symbolizes a welcoming of life's changes and an acknowledgment that all beings are part of a greater ongoing cycle. Because the symbols and mantras on prayer flags are sacred, they should be treated with respect. They should not be placed on the ground or used on clothing. Old prayer flags should be burned. Why not have your own set to bring peace and harmony to your world? Crystal Corner A Walk on the Dark Side Black Tourmaline excels at dispelling negativity in ALL forms, especially electromagnetic vibrations associated with cell phones and computers. People from teens to seniors, who regularly practice circulating and balancing the Chi, not only report physical and mental improvements, but a spiritual evolution, a sense of peace and joy year round. In the recent 8-week T ai Chi Chih Class, a young adult student s goal was to have an improvement in balance and by the last day of class, this goal had been accomplished.
