4 CREED I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, (all bow through and became man ) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. 8 I am pleased to announce that we have found a successor to Robert Carr and have offered the position of Director of Music to Mr. Henry Bauer. Henry comes to us from Rockville, Maryland where he has served as Director of Music for the past four years. Henry possess more than 20 years of experience as an organist, cantor, director, and teacher. In addition to his experience in music and liturgy, Henry holds an undergraduate degree in Piano Pedagogy from Butler University and a Masters in Liturgical Music from The Catholic University of America. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Sacred Music from Catholic University. The start date for Henry will be on Thursday, February 22 nd at which time he will lead the rehearsal for our adult choir for the first time. He is using these days to tie up some lose ends and prepare to move across the country. Henry is excited to be here and to share with us some of his ideas about how he would like to build upon our solid music program and grow it going forward. This note gives me the opportunity to thank Heather Fuller-Johnson for her professionalism and dedication to our music program during our search process. Her organizational skills and leadership has made for a smooth transition. I am truly grateful for all her hard work. I also want to thank the members of the Search Committee: Kay Walker, Father Paul Vevik, Janet Ahrend, Chris Cook, Keith Thomas, Jim Tevenan, and Carolyn Berry. Their expertise and insights were very helpful throughout this process. Finally, Henry will be coming to Spokane from Maryland without knowing anyone. Please join me in making him feel welcome and at home here at the Cathedral. Asking for the prayers of Our Lady of Lourdes, I remain, Sincerely yours in Christ, Rev. Darrin Connall Rector 7

11 The Sacrament of the Sick The Sacrament of the Sick will take place at the 4:00 pm Novena service on Sunday, February 11 th. The following people should seek an opportunity to receive the Anointing of the Sick: Anyone who is sick and in need of surgery Elderly people who are weak or burdened with illness Sick people who have lost consciousness Anyone with a chronic or serious illness Sick people who have lost the use of reason Children who are seriously ill and who have sufficient maturity People with a scratchy throat, head cold, or general fatigue are examples of people who should NOT receive this Sacrament. The Sacrament of the Sick is not intended for general illness.
