3 INTRODUCTORY RITES A wake, awake: fling off the night! For God has sent his glorious light; and we who live in Christ s new day must works of darkness put away. ENTRANCE HYMN 2. Awake and rise, like people renewed, and with the Spirit s power endued, the light of life in us will glow, and fruits of truth and goodness show. 3. Let in the light; all sin expose to Christ, whose life no darkness knows. Before his cross for guidance kneel; his light will judge and, judging, heal. 4. Awake, and rise up from the dead, and Christ his light on you will shed. Its power will wrong desires destroy, and your whole nature fill with joy. 5. Then sing for joy, and use each day; give thanks for everything alway. Lift up your hearts; with one accord praise God through Jesus Christ our Lord. GREETING 3

4 The Priest invites the faithful to confess their sins, after which all say: PRAYERS OF PENITENCE All I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. 9 I THE PROFESSION OF FAITH STAND believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. We ask for the prayers of the Saints and especially those of Mary, God s Mother and ours, as we say: Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST W ake, O wake! with tidings thrilling The watchmen all the air are filling, Arise, Jerusalem, arise! Midnight strikes! no more delaying, The hour has come! we hear them saying, Where are ye all, ye virgins wise? The Bridegroom comes in sight, Raise high your torches bright! Alleluya! The wedding swells loud and strong: Go forth and join the festal throng! Sion hears the watchmen shouting, Her heart leaps up with joy undoubting, She stands and waits with eager eyes; See her friend from Heaven descending, Adorned with truth and grace unending! Her light burns clear, her star doth rise. Now come, Thou precious crown, Lord Jesu, God s own Son! Hosanna! Let us prepare to follow there, Where in Thy supper we may share. Every soul in Thee rejoices, From men and from angelic voices Be glory given to Thee alone! Now the gates of pearl receive us, Thy presence never more shall leave us, We stand with angels round Thy throne. Earth cannot give below The bliss Thou dost bestow. Alleluya! 11 Pray, my brothers and sisters, that our sacrifice may be acceptable to God the almighty Father. May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good, and the good of all his holy Church. To which we respond: Amen. THE PRAYER OVER THE OBLATION The celebrant continues with the Eucharistic prayer until we sing:

12 We all KNEEL as the Celebrant continues with the Eucharistic Prayer. After the Lord s words are said over the bread and the chalice we use the following At the end of the prayer the priest sings or says the conclusion we respond: Amen. COMMUNION RITE At the Saviour s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. THE LORD S PRAYER STAND 12

13 Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles: Peace I leave you, my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will. Who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen. If you are not already standing, please STAND now. 13

14 AGNUS DEI COMMUNION Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed. When offered the Host and the Chalice or when given a blessing the response is always: Amen. 14

15 L onging for light, we wait in darkness. Longing for truth, we turn to you. Make us your own, your holy people, light for the world to see. Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts. Shine through the darkness. Christ, be our light! Shine in your church gathered today. DURING HOLY COMMUNION 2. Longing for peace, our world is troubled. Longing for hope, many despair. Your word alone has power to save us. Make us your living voice. 4. Longing for shelter, many are homeless. Longing for warmth, many are cold. Make us your building, sheltering others, walls made of living stone. 3. Longing for food, many are hungry. Longing for water, many still thirst. Make us your bread, broken for others, shared until all are fed. To which we respond: Amen. Any notices and Banns of Marriage are announced now 5.
