Shop at: and Amazon donates to Monument Hill Service Club. BIRTHDAYS Jim "The Ironman" Taylor told us of three member birthdays for next week and Frank Wynne provided humor.

Dennis Beasley, September 17th, the 260th day of the year. 260 is the constant for each row, column and diagonal of an 8x8 magic square. It is also the sum of the squares of the divisors of 15. Rich Strom, September 18th, the 261st day of the year. 261 is the number of possible unfolded tesseract patterns. In geometry, the tesseract is the four-dimensional analogue of the cube; the tesseract is to the cube as the cube is to the square. Just as the surface of the cube consists of six square faces, the hypersurface of the tesseract consists of eight cubical cells. Also, if you draw diagonals in a 16 sided polygon, it is possible to dissect it into 7 quadrilaterals. There are 261 unique ways to make this dissection.

Bob Evans, September 20th, the 263rd day of the year. 263 is an irregular prime (an odd prime which divides the numerator of a Bernoulli Number). They became of great interest after 1850 when Kummer proved that Fermat's Last Theorem was true for any exponent that was a regular prime. 263^2 =69169 A strobogrammatic number (appears the same rotated by 180o. Finally, 263 is the sum of five consecutive primes, 263 = , and the average of the primes on each side of it, 263= Jim's final thought:

Scribe: Jay Kelley D38 Superintendent Karen Brofft gave a splendid presentation on three important education items on the November 6, 2018 Ballot, and emphasizing a "conservative approach to addressing education need in our rapidly growing D38." : 1. State Amendment Mill Levy Override 4A 3. Bond Request 4B 1. Amendement 73 will recover an education revenue stream through a tax increase. It will result in about $9 million toward education needs in D Mill Levy Override (MLO) 4A. This initiative specifically addresses student population growth in D38 which is projected to be 950 over the next 5 years. The MLO 4A will provide D38 about $1 million additional funds to address safety and security, staff and training needs, for the current and projected student growth. 3. Bond Request 4B. This Bond Request is for $36.5 million to directly address the student population growth. The funds would provide a new elementary school, convert Bear Creek to a Middle School (6-7-8 grades), and provide for additional safety and security improvements across all D38 schools. Superintendent Brofft's one liner : Don't let education be a "broken window" for our community!"

Happy Trails! See you Saturday at: Lewis Palmer D-38 Administration building (a.k.a. Big Red) 146 Jefferson Street, Monument, CO Please use the West or North entrances!
