2 Hello Fellow Middletown Lions, The Chicken BBQ was a great success and I want to thank everyone who helped pull off this new fundraiser for our club. I particularly wish to thank Nancy Keller-Bonde for all the hard work in planning and coordinating the event. The first time any event is held, particularly one that involves a lot of coordination and some expense, takes courage. You don t know if it will be a success until it is tried. Thanks to all who helped with the Heritage Day Parade and the Lions Information Table next to Middletown Valley Bank. As always, Tom Nyswaner did a great job in organizing our group for the parade. Iris Norris was instrumental in planning and setting up the Lions Table. October is going to be an even busier month. We have several club members who have indicated they will be taking part in the Diabetes Walk and Kiss-A-Pig. We can always use more. The walk will begin at 1:00 pm on Oct. 12 at the Baker Park Band Shell in downtown Frederick. I have found this to be a very enjoyable time. In past years, Lions have raised a great deal of money at this event for one of our most important causes. Other organizations will also be taking part in the walk. I want to remind everyone about our Make-A-Difference Day project on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Sensory Trail in Catoctin Creek Park on Summantown Road, Middletown. We will be helping with maintenance of the trail, including stripping logs and spreading mulch. More information will be provided at a later date. Our Boscov s fundraiser will be on Oct. 21; Governor John Parker will make his official visit to our Club on Oct. 27. To finish the month, we have our Halloween Parade on Thursday, Oct. 30. The Quilt Raffle is ongoing. The drawing for the quilt will be held on December 8, 2014 at the Lions Christmas Party. Page 6

7 The car raffle tickets need to be purchased from Lion Bill Falconer by Dec 12, 2014 so the stubs can be mailed to the Delaware Club for the drawing held on Dec 26, Please support these activities. Membership Chair Iris Norris reminds us to remember to carry the Lions Club membership application at all times so that you are ready to JUST ASK all those you meet to join Lions Club.
