1 the July 2015 ViSiTOR A MONTHLY PUBLICATION OF CHETEK & DOVRE LUTHERAN CHURCHES Vol. 3 Issue 7 COMINGS AND GOINGS BY PASTOR REDFIELD "The Lord will bless your going out and coming in from this time forth and forevermore." Psalm 121:8 Coming Sunday, July 5th, we begin our summer worship schedule with 9 am worship at Chetek and 10:30 am worship at Dovre. As of July 1, Pastor Dave Whelan s service ends at Chetek and Dovre and we say tusen takk for his faithful ministry this past year and pray God s blessings on his life and future ministry. We do the same for Pastor Janelle Harrison and our brothers and sisters of Trinity Lutheran who partnered with us this past year! Coming July 15th, our National Youth Gathering group heads for Detroit, Michigan, for a time of fun, fellowship and service. Keep our young people and adult chaperones in your prayers and donate / buy a pie at the Liberty Fest Art in the Park stand to support our group! July s mission offering goes to Luther Park Bible Camp, which is in full swing with summer campers. Check out opportunities for all ages if you haven t already and let us hold up our Bible Camp in our prayers and financial support! 2 Page 2 Pie Donations Needed to Help Our National Youth Gathering Youth Can we count on you to donate a pie(s) for our pie stand at the Art in the Park event, July 4-5th at the Airport Park? 30 pies have been donated. Thank you for your donation. Thank you to the six families (out of 300) who responded to the automated message plea for more pies this week. We still need another 90 pies to make our quota. 90 Pies need to be fruit or nut as there is no refrigeration at the park. Some ideas are blueberry (a crowd favorite we ve heard), blackberry, raspberry, apple, cherry, peach, pecan, walnut or any other fruit or nut pie that will hold up well in warm weather. You can bake a frozen pie, make one from scratch, buy a pie, or give a monetary donation. It s super easy! Pies need to be dropped off in the church kitchen on Friday, July 3rd. Thank you for your help. Be sure to stop in and purchase a great slice of pie with ice cream on July 4-5th from 10-4 p.m. at the Airport Park while checking out the awesome crafts. We d love it if you d give us a helping hand as well. Please call or (cheteklutheran@chibardun.net) the church office if you can donate. Our National Youth Gathering Youth are: Eric Anderson, Trevor Buse, Alexis Carlson, Mya & Travis Monnier and chaperones: Theresa Anderson & Corey Monnier. These families have been busy doing a variety of fundraising that didn t require help from the congregation such as delivering phone books in January, serving the Lutefisk Dinner and Easter Breakfast. We are counting on your pies and help to give the kids the final boost to get them on their way to the National Youth Gathering in Detroit, Michigan, July 15-19, 2015.

8 Page 8 Fourth of July: Remembering America as a Nation Under God "The highest glory of the American Revolution was this: that it connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity." - John Quincy Adams America became a free country on July 4, God Bless America Lyrics - by Irving Berlin God bless America, Land that I love, Stand beside her and guide her Thru the night with a light from above; From the mountains, to the prairies, To the oceans white with foam, God bless America, My home, sweet home. God bless America, My home, sweet home. From the mountains, to the prairies, To the oceans white with foam, God bless America, My home, sweet home. God bless America, My home, sweet home. What does that mean to you today in remembering those who Served the Lord with Gladness and gave the ultimate sacrifice? How would you put yourself on the list of service today to God, Your Community and Your Church with the use of your time, talent and treasures? This can be a spiritual awaking in your life. Stewardship Committee Co-Chairs David & Caroline France
