Pastor Guy s Report From Oct. 14 th November 18 th October 19 th, New Member Sunday October 26 th, Confirmation Sunday December 3 rd, 10 th, & 17 th, Advent Soup Supper and Program, Christmas Connecting with Muslims with Akrim Atta! November 27 th December 17 th Vacation (Pastor Dave and Pastor Janelle will cover while Pastor Guy is gone). Bookkeeper s Report: October Claims MSC (Sandi/Bruce) to approve Treasurer s Report MSC (Sandi/John) to approve Approval of November Mission Envelope Chetek Food Shelf - MSC (Harry/Caroline) to approve Announcements, Communications, and Committee Reports WELCA Sandi reported the Cookie Walk will be December 13 th. All women in the congregation are asked to make 3 dozen cookies for this event. Stewardship Caroline handed out Time and Talent sheets to all council members. She said very few sheets were turned in. After discussion it was decided to mail a letter to congregation members who did not turn in their Promise or Time and Talent sheets asking them to do so. Old Business Update on Call Committee This is moving slow as there are not many candidates available at this time. There was discussion on how the called pastor would be paid between the three congregations and how the parsonage would be possibly used. Based on the Tri-executive meeting on August 6, 2014 it was decided to divide the compensation between the three churches as Chetek 10%, Dovre 40%, and Trinity 50 %. There was also discussion on the parsonage and how it would possible affect the next pastor if he/she chose to live or not live in the parsonage. Based on Kelly s records Pastor Guy s total 2013 housing expenses were $6,300. New Business Preliminary Budget Finance committee has met and decided not to make many changes until after the evaluations are done. Evaluations are scheduled for December 3 rd. Set Annual Meeting Date Dovre has already chosen January 25 th. After discussion it was decided to hold the annual meeting on February 1 st having a potluck at 11:30 with the meeting to follow at 12:15. MSC (Sandi/Don) to approve
8 Page 8 End of the Year Committee Reports These are due to the office on December 1 st for the annual report. Council Nominees There are 3 new council representatives needed. Employee Evaluations Tina will send out the evaluations to each council member. They are to fill them out and send to Kathy Bowers either by or leave in the church council mailbox and she will pick them up by December 1 st. The executive board will meet with Pastor Guy, Tina Langman, Rob Carlson and Kelly Knowlton on December 3 rd at 4:00 to go over the evaluations. Touched Twice - Dale and Ginny Schimmel are stepping down from Touched Twice. Since no one has stepped up to take over this event they are wondering what should be done with the money in the account. After discussion it was decided to put $1000 in the Good Samaritan Fund and leave the rest in the Touch Twice Fund. MSC (John/Don) to approve Lutefisk Fund Don suggested that $500 from the Lutefisk Fund be donated to the Youth since many of them were there helping with the dinner that day. MSC(Don/John) to approve Parsonage Since we are still waiting on another pastor and no one is living in the parsonage right now it was decided to find out what the fair market value is for the parsonage and possibly what it is worth to rent. Kathy will contact Stacy Neuman to check on this. Don will also check with Clint Doege about keeping the driveway plowed this winter. Church Boiler The boiler has been leaking water and is very old. Tim Olson has agreed to check it out. We will wait to see what he finds out and what his recommendations are. Pastor Guy closed with prayer. December Meeting: Tuesday, December 16 th, at 6:30 Devotions Sandi Snacks Pastor Guy Minutes are approved via . Respectfully submitted by, Kathy Bowers, Secretary Thank you s! 9 Page 9 Dovre Lutheran Church Council Meeting of Nov. 12, 2014 Meeting opened by President Bryce Harelstad. Members present: Gary Nielsen, Oscar Skoug, Lynda Rogers, Arlene Hoveland, Cathy Albrecht, Wayne Olson, Karin Jorstad. Devotions given by Pastor Dave Whelan. Secretary's Report reviewed. Motion made by Wayne and seconded by Bryce to accept the minutes. Motion carried. Treasurer's Report reviewed. Motion made by Karin, seconded by Lynda to accept the report. Motion carried. Pastor's Report: Pastor Whelan states the Dovre Constitution is outdated and he could work on a new one, bring the format up to date with amendments, hopefully by next month's meeting. Auditors for December will be shared by the Council men, and Deacon will be Karin. Committee Reports: A. Youth and Education: Christmas Program rehearsals are starting soon. Old Business: A. Gary reported that the kitchen window has been repaired. B. The Council decided to leave the veterans' flags up until after Labor Day. Gary spoke with someone at the American Legion and they feel the flags do get more worn if left till then but we will pay for new flags every other year. C. Council member will check on which exit sign is not working properly. D. Someone will be coming out to address the fire extinguisher replacement issue. E. Some of the Dovre Church signs along the road are missing; Wayne has straightened up some that have been tipped over. F. Electric bill is down this month considerably. New Business: A. Council members going off this year are Bryce and Karin. Gary will finish Matthew Robert's term. Bryce will ask Paul Carlson if he would replace him. Karin agreed to remain on the Council as Secretary, as will Arlene Hoveland and Cathy Albrecht in their positions. The Constitution will have to be changed to allow members to succeed themselves. Karin will ask Gail Ranney if she would be on the Council. B. Snow removal: Bryce will talk to Paul about snow removal. Wayne has helped but will be gone January and February. C. Thanksgiving Service will be an ecumenical service in Chetek. D. Christmas Service: Last year was at 5 or 5:30 p.m. That may be a problem for farmers. We will discuss the interest in a 3:30 p.m. Service, which is popular at some churches. Motion made by Gary to try a 3:30 service, seconded by Wayne. Motion carried. We do need an organist that day. Lynda will try Connie or Rita. E. Annual Meeting will be on January 25 th. Next Council meeting will be Dec. 17 th at Chetek Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. The meeting was adjourned at 4:20 p.m. Minutes respectfully submitted by Karin Jorstad, Secretary

As always, Thank You for donating to Chetek Lutheran. Our Benevolence payments for OCTOBER 2014 totaled $ , which is 6% of our offerings. Instead of (yet again) borrowing additional money from our Memorial & Gift account to cover another month, I allowed our account to be overdrawn. Obviously I would not have done this without knowing gifts were coming in from the next Sunday and we would not "actually" overdraft our bank account, however, we are now in the negative of $ going into November. In addition, we were unable to pay $ in more invoices due in October. Going into November we are $ in debt. So it adds additional obligation for US to make it up in November. So far we have borrowed $11, this year from our Memorial & Gift account to cover General Expenses and have only been able to repay $1500 in April because we had extra Easter giving.
