2 Page 2 Operation Christmas Child Packing Party Friday, November 20, 2015 at 6:30 pm Families and congregation members are invited to participate in this mission/outreach opportunity that will bring joy to a child this Christmas and the good news of Christ s birth. The goal is to fill a shoebox with age appropriate gifts and personal care items for a boy or girl that will be delivered to them this Christmas. When we gather on Friday, November 20 we will enjoy a short video on Operation Christmas Child, wrap our boxes, write a personal note for the child, and prepare them for drop off at a shipping location. This will be a family friendly event with snacks and refreshments and activities to involve your child in this outreach opportunity. What do you need to be involved? An average size shoe box is key plastic shoeboxes that you can purchase also work well. Gifts and personal care items to place in the box there are some specific dos and don ts in a brochure you can pick-up from the Youth & Family bulletin board located outside the choir room in the basement. Need more ideas? Check out the Operation Christmas Child boards on Pinterest, visit the Samaritan s Purse website and watch the Chetek Lutheran Facebook page for more ideas! I hope you can join us for what is sure to be a fun event filled with Christmas spirit. Our goal is to send 30 boxes this year. There is a specific need for shoeboxes for boys ages as they tend to get very few boxes for this group. Specific age group packing lists for boys and girls are also available on-line. Pajama Christmas Bedtime Story Saturday, December 19 7:00 PM Come with your family and friends to hear some holiday books, yes we will include our friend Santa, create a holiday craft and enjoy some milk and cookies! This event is for anyone young at heart and a great fit for families with children ages birth to 10. Include this event in your Christmas schedule and watch for more details in the December newsletter. Chetek Lutheran Sunday School On November 1, 2015 we will start the next 6 week session of Sunday School. If you have questions about Sunday School or the Christmas program please contact Wendy, cheteklutheranyouthdirector@hotmail.com.
