We are putting together a council outing to watch the Frisco RoughRiders, depending on interest. The RoughRiders are a minor league baseball feeder into the Texas Rangers. The council did this a couple of years ago and everyone who attended had a great time at a great facility that really lets the fans get into the game. The stadium has nice seats, they're inexpensive and if we get a big enough group we can qualify for some group discounts and incentives. So if you are interested in some quality family fun time let s go out to the ball game. PoC Joe Walker gk9884@gmail.com

2 Brothers and Sisters, Happy Easter! As we celebrate the rising of our Lord Jesus, hope springs eternal. As the grass greens up and the flowers start to bloom, it s another great opportunity to thank God for all that He has done for us and continues to do for us every day. I wanted to thank everyone that came out to our Annual Founder s Day Celebration on March 27 and I trust everyone had a good time! One important reminder: due the 1st Thursday of April being Holy Thursday, we are moving our normal business meeting to Wednesday March 31, 2010, and we will be having it in the RE building, Room 7/9 This is an important meeting due to the fact it will be the first vote for the next Fraternal year, so if you have an activity you would really like to do for next year, make sure it gets in the Budget!. Fraternally, Joe Walker, GK Thursday, April 8 th, Assembly 2291 will host its Second Annual BBQ feast at the Northshore Club in Flower Mound. It s an opportunity for both the Council and Assembly to get together and relax and enjoy each other s company. Even if you are not a fourth degree Knight, come and enjoy the hospitality. You will learn a little about the 4 th Degree of the Knights of Columbus in general and this Assembly in particular. The Northshore Club is a private treasure with some of the best specimen trees and wildlife left in the county. It s easy to get to the Northshore Club: Go south on 2499, turn right on Northshore Blvd., the 1 st street past FM 3040 / Flower Mound Rd. Follow around to entry gates on the right. Enter on the keypad for entry beyond the gate; continue down the drive down until you see us. Go to if you need another map or want to know more about the club. There will be plenty of food and cheer. We look forward to seeing you. PoC: Rich Lubke rich.lubke@tx.rr.com / Brian Friesenhahn bfriesen_koc@verizon.net

This is not an emotional request from me, but rather a call out to all brothers it seems that Eric responds very well to visitors. The difficult part is his current awake hours if you can get out during lunch you have a better chance of visiting when Eric is not sleeping. He is in Atrium Medical Center of Corinth on Corinth Pkwy. Please continue to keep Eric, his wife Mina, son Eric, and his granddaughters in your prayers. PoC: SK K.C. 4 Council Church Activities hosted Stations of the Cross and Simple Soup Supper Forty people came together in the St. Philip prayer garden on Friday, March 19, first, to pray the Stations of the Cross, then partake of a simple soup supper in the CLC. First and most importantly of all, thanks to everyone who donated cans of soup. We were able to make 1 gallon each of clam chowder and vegetable, as well as 3+ gallons of creamy tomato. After all was said and done, we had enough to drop off a gallon of tomato soup at a local fire station. Many thanks to Knights cooking soup, setting up and cleaning up after the event...george Driscoll, GK Joe Walker, PGK Bill Miller, Jay Darling, Steve Robillard, Marco Melara, John Morrison, Bob Dubek. Anyone interested in getting a copy of the prayers, contact Bob Dubek. We will have 5 (or 15) members each reading for three (or one) of the stations for next year's service. PoC: Eddie Martinez: & Bob Dubek: Come and Pray for an end to abortion; Mary Garden on 8:30am Council 9884 members aided Our Lady of Fatima rosary group following all Masses on March 20 and 21. We helped with the display and offering of rosaries for donations. Thanks to an outstanding effort by all, $2,078 in donations was raised this weekend. This will keep the group in supplies and pay for shipping for around two years. Last year, the group supplied almost 13,600 rosaries (incorrectly reported last month) to our service men and women plus those in hospitals and prisons. In 2008, we took boxes and boxes of rosaries to our village in Haiti; it was the highlight of our trip. Thanks to all for your support. PoC: Rich Lubke Thanks to the craftsmanship of woodworker extraordinaire, John Morrison, we now have a new table top dais. Using reclaimed Brazilian hardwood (we're also environmentally responsible), John created a masterpiece for use by the Grand Knight and the Faithful Navigator at our Council and Assembly KofC meetings. Thank You, John! What It Is All About Want to say a little "Thank You" to the men and women in uniform who volunteer to serve and protect us? Come out to DFW Airport on the last Saturday of the month and Greet Our Troops returning for some R&R. Call on the Friday night prior to the last Saturday of the month for flight arrival time/gate/terminal info. Come join your Brother Knights and other grateful Americans. For April, Greet The Troops is on Saturday, April 24! Sponsored by Assembly POC: SK Bob LaCroix: skboblacroix@gmail.com

5 The Respect for Life Corner Let me start this month's article with a portion of Fr. Frank Pavone s (National Director, Priests for Life) article on the Beatitudes (Mt 5:3-12) and their relationship to the Pro-Life movement: The Beatitudes shape the work of Christians who are active in the pro-life movement. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice; they will be satisfied. This beatitude speaks to the heart of the pro-life movement. We seek justice first of all by seeking to be right with God and in all our relationships. We also we seek justice by seeking to protect the rights of all, especially the weakest among us, our brothers and sisters in the womb. We are blessed not merely by believing they have a right to life, but by feeling the hunger and thirst, the longing and yearning, that they be protected and that this right be recognized and secured by law.we also seek justice by working to extend healing and forgiveness to all who have been involved in abortion, that they too will be right with God and know his peace. With these thoughts in mind, and after conducting a very successful first abortion clinic prayer vigil in February, the Council will establish a regular vigil on the 1 st Wednesday of each month starting April 7 th. We will meet by the parish prayer garden at 10AM and car pool to a clinic in Dallas, holding a prayer vigil between 11 and 1. I know this schedule will not work for most folks so we will plan to add a Saturday vigil in the future; stay tuned for more info later. Let me close with the words of Archbishop Charles Chaput. This was addressed to politicians who were openly Pro-Choice, but applies equally to all Catholics:...from the beginning, the believing Christian community held that abortion was always, gravely wrong,...we now know with biological certainty exactly when human life begins. Abortion kills an unborn, developing human life. It is always gravely evil, and so are the evasions employed to justify it. Catholics who make excuses for it - whether they re famous or not - fool only themselves and abuse the fidelity of those Catholics who do sincerely seek to follow the Gospel and live their Catholic faith. Your Brother Knight in Christ, John Bowen, , jbowen76@verizon.net The 2010 State Golf Tournament will be held September 24, 25 and 26 in Arlington. This is the first time in over 20 years the tournament has been held in our area and a lot of people have been lobbying a long time to get the tournament in our backyard. All play will be held at Pecan Valley Golf Course (River and Hills). There is an open division and a senior division. Both divisions are flighted and gift cards are presented for gross and net winners in each flight. There are team and individual awards so it would be nice to have a couple of teams to represent Same eligibility rules apply as the International Tournament. Entry forms will be mailed in April. PoC: Boyd Burris, burrisbp@verizon.net, or The 2010 International Golf Tournament will be held June 14 thru 18 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. There is an optional scramble on Friday June 16 and stroke play on June 17 and 18. All golfers are flighted and gross and net awards are given in each flight. If this is your first tournament you will need a home club handicap card within a month of the tournament or two 18 hole rounds must be played within a month of the tournament and signed by the course professional or assistant professional. Entry fee is $150 for all golf and banquets, scramble fee is an additional $50. Play will be held at the Donald Ross Golf Club and Colonial Oaks Golf Club. There are discount prices at four hotels. For those who did not make it to the Founder's Day Celebration and see the unveiling of the winning logo, here it is: This winning entry was submitted by our Church Activities Director, Eddie Martinez. Congrats!! Preparations for this big event are coming together. Perhaps the most important preparation item is your donation of the items for the silent and live auctions!
