There is so much turmoil and disaster in the world a week with no news would be great. The list of people to pray for just continues to grow. We have many Knights, Knights family and friends that need our prayers. The point is we can t let our guard down. Prayer is needed everyday. I hear of all the troubles around the council. So each day I pray for all Knights and Families of Council And then I pray for the babies that have no one else to pray for them. Those unborn babies that could be unwanted. We need to always pray for them. Our event on November 4th will help those women that are confused and need some help with the big change in their life of becoming a mother. This event will be huge for all who attend. If you are Luke-Warm on your Pro-Life., come and listen to Carol Everett and see a live Ultrasound. If it is hard for you to swing the $50 ticket let me know and we will work something out. I won t repeat Louis letter but a great tremendous huge Thank You to all helped this month of September. It was a big time for the Knights, the Church and the world. The Hurricanes, the earthquakes and the daily life at the parish. I hope after the casino night and ABBA Dinner we will have a break with a couple of PCB s an outside casino and a first degree. The Christmas Party will be fun and I have a dinner and a play planned. Anyway I hope everyone has enjoyed spending time with other Knights. Dinner/Play 4th Degree Thank You to Helpers Officers and Directors Best Wishes! Dan Jacobs Grand Knight

2 October Newsletter Page 2 My Brothers, I hope this note finds you and your family doing well. First let me say Thank you, Thank you all for the good works that you do for our parish and community. September was a month we won t soon forget. All of the natural disasters that occurred during September will continue to affect so many people for at least the next year and beyond, please keep all of these people in your thoughts and prayers. Locally here in Flower Mound, Lewisville area we have been quite busy in our parish. We have been selling the Holy Land raffle tickets after every mass in hopes to give all parishioners the opportunity to go on a pilgrimage with Dr. D Ambrosio and Father McDaniel. Congratulations to the big winners, your life is about to change for the better. Brothers, when you run into Deacon Jim shake his hand and give him a hug. He headed the St Philip s Festival and it was a huge success, thanks to his dedication and guidance. He was out there working for hours and hours sometimes by himself. So many did so much, from cleaning up rocks limbs and droppings. The parking area had to be setup, chairs tents, tables and the list continues. Thank you all for being a big part of this event. The 9/11 luncheon was in a word, AWESOME! In the past we held the luncheon on a Saturday to give more Knights the ability to come in and help cook or server or just to say thanks to the first responders for the hard work and sacrifices they make on a daily basis. This time it was held on the actual date Sept 11. It was a Monday and there were many (40+) people on hand to help. Knights, spouses, parents, and a group of home schooled kids (TEAM) that are working on a robot to help fireman do their job. Not all of the first responders are able to make it and if that happened we called into dispatch and found out how many people were working to take them food. If you can t come to us, we will come to you. The pancake breakfast brought in a lot of people, a lot more than normal. Proceeds from that were to go to the victims of Hurricane Harvey. The people wanted to help however they can and they did. St Philip Casino is on October 14 and tickets were on sale for that event. Keep Christ in Christmas yard signs were also on sale, preorders end on 31 Oct. For $75 this makes a great gift to family and friends, keep that in mind and order yours before 31 October. My Brothers, as Deputy Grand Knight, I am asking that you pray for me. Please pray for our Brother Knights that may not be doing well. Pray for their families that all are healthy and safe wherever they may be. Today more than ever we need to continue praying for all in the World and those in purgatory. Remember to call 5 of your fellow brothers and checkup on them, see how they are and if they need anything. Thank you and may the spirit of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity be reflected in everything we do. DGK Louis Hernandez Hernandez.Louie@verizon.net

Throughout history, there have been more line of duty deaths in the State of Texas than any other state or territory. The Texas Police Chiefs Association s Fallen Officers Fund provides monetary assistance to Texas families of fallen heroes within 24 hours following an Officers line of duty death. The Fallen Officers Bike Race is a community event that takes place at The Shops at Highland Village. Activities include a 5K run, civilian bike race, and a police team bike race. There is live music, demonstrations, raffle prizes, a silent auction, kids zone, food, and drinks throughout the day. Since 2008, we have raised over $150,000 for the Fallen Officer Fund, help us reach our goal of $30,000 this year! The Fallen Officers Bike Race and 5K will take place on October 21, 2017 at The Shops at Highland Village. 7 Knights State Golf Tournament Harvey wreaked havoc on the Texas Gulf Coast and amidst it was the cancellation of the Golf Championship slated to be held in Sealy that weekend. After feedback from many of you we have made the decision to reschedule the for the weekend of November 10, 11, 12, 2017, at old faithful; Squaw Valley Golf Club, Glen Rose, Tx. Some of you have indicated you will not be able to attend and to that end we will be processing refund checks as quickly as possible. Also we are resolved to locate another venue for the 2018 Championships and will work diligently to schedule this tournament in the late spring/early summer rather than the August/September time frame. Because of the shorter days in November the Friday Scramble Tournament will have a 12:30pm shotgun start. The Saturday and Sunday individual tournament play will have a shotgun start at 8:30 AM. both mornings. Golfers are asked to be at their assigned golf cart no later than 8:00am. Late registration for the Friday Scramble and the Saturday/Sunday Individual Tournament will be held at the Golf Club starting at 11:00am Friday morning and continuing until 5:30pm Friday evening and on Saturday morning 7:00 to 8:00am. Late registration is subject to availability!! I am attaching a tournament entry form for Knights that have not registered and may now wish to do so. Be sure to complete all the information requested, including council number; flight; division; and membership numbers. Incomplete forms will delay your entry. A Saturday evening Mass is being scheduled, further information will be provided when this is confirmed. Council of Glen Rose will again host this year s event. Activities will be centered around the golf course and the Holiday Inn. We will provide two meals, now included in the entry fee (burgers/bbq). One before tee off on Friday and another after the Saturday rounds. The council will host a happy hour after Mass on Saturday night at the Holiday Inn. The entry fee for the scramble is $70.00 per golfer and the entry fee for the individual two day tournament is $ per golfer, and if you sign up to play all three days your entry fee will be $ Your entry fee must accompany the registration form. 8 Oct Dinner and a Play Through the month of October There is a play being presented at the Runaway Theatre in Grapevine. The play is The Addams Family Musical. It is based on the TV show the Addams Family with Morticia and Gomez. It is Directed by the director we have seen many times before, Bill Sizemore. I urge you to go to the website and see if it is something you would enjoy. Runawaytheatre.com Seating is limited so these tickets have been going fast. Last weekend was sold out. So I will need to know who would like to go soon. Tickets are $25 and we will eat at somewhere close by that is reasonable. There are many options. Please let me know. Text me at or send an to carsrfun2@yahoo.com Fourth Degree Report We had 10 Sir Knights in Regalia provide an honor guard for mass and placing of the cross on the land of the future home of Saint Philip Catholic Church. It was impressive to have a good turnout honoring God our Father and our patron Saint Philip. October is a slow month for the Fourth Degree but we will make up for it in November. Bring your family to a mass for departed Knights on November 9th at Our Lady of Lebanon in Lewisville. A dinner provided by the Fourth Degree will follow. More details will be given next month. This honors not only our departed Sir Knights of this Assembly but our departed brothers of Council Everyone from Council 9884 should bring their family. Also on Saturday, November 11th, Veterans Day we will have a Patriotic Rosary in the Mary Garden at Saint Philips. This will be followed by mass in the worship center. All parishioners and their families are asked to attend. With the mass shootings in Las Vegas, the wildfires in the Northwest and the Hurricanes that devastated Texas, Florida and Puerto Rica our country needs our prayers. Ken Johann Faithful Navigator 8
